There is an exciting opportunity to join us in a role that is vital to our success. We are looking for an Asset Engineer to join our East Midlands Geotechnics Maintenance team.
In this role you will be responsible for activities related to the inspection, maintenance and operation of our embankment and cutting assets and the day to day management of other geotechnical risks across Network Rail's East Midlands Route area. You will support the Senior Asset Engineer [Geotechnics Maintenance] [East Midlands] and contribute to the management of earthwork assets and geotechnical risks to meet relevant Network Rail obligations and strategic objectives.
Role and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Lead the requirements for examination and undertake evaluation, assessment and risk management of geotechnical assets across the East Midlands Route, which includes the Midland Main Line from London St Pancras through Luton and Bedford, and numerous other lines within Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire.
Direct the implementation of monitoring systems and undertake the review of monitoring results and other control measures.
Support the development of route specific plans including all inspection, maintenance and operational activities. Support the inclusion of all maintenance items into appropriate programmes and track through to completion including approval of programme changes.
Respond to geotechnical queries and incidents anywhere on East Midlands Route, and support investigations into significant failures that affect the safety and performance of assets.
Liaise with the community relations and asset protection teams to support the resolution of geotechnical issues involving neighbours and third parties.
Support the implementation of adverse weather plans when poor weather conditions are forecast. Contribute to reviews and updates of adverse weather plans.
Monitor trends arising from examinations and evaluations, assessments, asset capability and failure precursors and confirm that action is specified and taken and participate in investigations of incidents.
Maintain comprehensive and accurate asset records.
Provide engineering input to the specification and management of geotechnical examination contracts. Investigate and resolve technical and quality issues with suppliers.
Be part of an on-call rota for out of office hours incident response.

Do you have?
Essential
HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject
Experience in geotechnical engineering
An understanding of the maintenance of geotechnical assets
Knowledge of the relevant technical, safety and performance standards
Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution
Holds relevant professional licences and technical qualifications, or capable of achieving within reasonable timescales
Holds valid UK driving licence, or eligible and willing to obtain
Desirable
Degree in a relevant subject
Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer
Understanding and experience of railway infrastructure maintenance
Experience of undertaking engineering assurance activities, including competence assessment

Salary of £40,107 - £45,120 (Band 4C) depending on skills, qualifications and experience
