Senior Technical Specialist – Hashicorp Vault

Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.
Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.
We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.
Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2021 and beyond, we are currently seeking a Hashicorp Vault Senior Technical Specialist join HSBC Technology.
Business area overview
Client Access Technology is a global engineering and development team providing Identity and Access Management technology for HSBC. We provide and support many of the Bank’s most critical IAM infrastructure services including Active Directory, Privileged Access Management and Access Governance. We are passionate about providing high-quality, automated and self service solutions to our customers.
What you will be doing;
Technical Specialists within CAT are usually focussed on one technical area or product, working in an Agile pod within a globally dispersed team. This role reports into the Technical Service Owner of Privileged Access Management global services. The Hashicorp Vault pod is collaboratively responsible for;
- Driving the roadmap of Hashicorp Vault
- Engineering solutions to improve the service
- Responding to production incidents
- Planning changes including upgrades and enhancements
- Consulting with end users requesting integration
- Upskilling fulfilment team members to cover support
Responsible for:
- Picking up end user engagements and helping build a solution
- Taking ownership of support incidents and finding a resolution
- Applying expertise and experience to mature HSBC’s use of Hashicorp Vault
- Seek ways of automating, and building self-service into our processes
- Representing CAT “outwards” to manage quality of service delivered
- Maintain a good relationship with the Hashicorp vendor
- There is no line management responsibility with the role – however agile lead responsibilities may be shared within the pod
