With increasing regulation to protect the ecology of our waterbodies, there is an increasing need for network, river, estuarine and coastal modelling to verify water quality compliance and to advise on potential mitigation. We have a long history of supporting UK water companies in these services and have secured major AMP7 frameworks with the majority of them. Our expertise also expands to cover catchment management and nature-based solutions modelling and we promote the application of these sustainable measures where possible as a way to reduce water treatment costs, build resilience against climate change and deliver environmental and social outcomes. We have a global reach and also support regulators, asset owners and investors worldwide.
Demand for these services continues to grow, and in response to this we are keen to engage a talented senior mathematical modeller to drive innovation, work across disciplines in complex modelling projects and strengthen our offering. This position can be offered on a full-time or a part-time basis.
As a senior mathematical modeller, you will be part of a large team of water resources and flood risk specialists, working closely with our teams of engineers and asset planners to deliver a wide range of services for UK and international clients. These may include working with commercial hydrodynamic and water quality modelling packages to simulate the baseline conditions of our rivers, estuaries and coastal environments and conduct scenario testing, develop integrated drainage and river network models, investigate the natural processes influencing the fate of contaminants, build ad-hoc assessment tools tailored to project specific needs and undertake statistical analyses. For those with related interests, there are many opportunities to get involved across our teams on activities such as hydrology, systems modelling, groundwater modelling, flood modelling and computational food dynamics. We therefore welcome applications from people with varied backgrounds and skillsets.
Your input will help our internal teams and external clients to deliver complex multidisciplinary projects that will provide great benefits to local communities and the environment. You will be responsible for:
- Delivering and leading technically complex modelling projects
- Managing projects and maintaining client relationships
- Assisting with winning work and the development of new business
- Providing technical guidance, support and training to junior colleagues and supporting, where practicable, in the mentoring and development of others
