An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Locomotive Engineer based at Freightliner Leeds VMF, reporting directly to the Senior Rolling Stock Engineer. Key responsibilities of this role include ensuring technical compliance to Railway Group Standards and maintenance documents to enable the production of safe, reliable Locomotives in line with company availability requirements.

You will be responsible for delivering technical projects to enhance the reliability, availability and safety of the company’s Locomotive fleet while reducing the overall costs associated with the maintenance, renewal and repair. You will also act a source of technical support and advice to the Engineering Production organisation.

Skills and experience:

• Engineering qualification, preferably to HNC standard in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• be able to demonstrate broadly based experience of Traction & Rolling Stock.
• experience in supervisory or man-management and the ability to make sound engineering decisions.
• Contract management skills.

This post is safety critical and is therefore subject to an occupational health medical which includes Drugs and Alcohol screening. In addition, this post carries an on-call responsibility. Some occasional unsociable working hours will also be required.
