Job Description

Position Overview

Abcam has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Associate, Internal Controls, SOX to support our Business Process side of the Finance/Compliance team. This person will be responsible for overseeing the development and rollout of SOX compliance initiatives across the global business. This is a highly visible position reporting to the Global Head of SOX Compliance.

The role involves:

  • Oversee and drive the Company’s SOX compliance efforts by partnering with internal process owners including IT (Information Technology), HR, Payroll, and other business units, as well as internal/external auditors in support of the company’s internal controls and execution of SOX compliance initiatives.
  • Responsible for oversight of the management’s design assessment for SOX controls, including gap assessment
  • Responsible for aiding in the development of remediation plans and implementing remediation processes and procedures.
  • Maintaining the deficiency assessment.
  • Support rollout of Sarbanes Oxley requirements and update/maintain substantial and adequate internal control environment in relative jurisdictions.
  • Drive SOX compliance across the enterprise and educate, consult, evaluate, and advise process owners on internal SOX controls and risk mitigation.
  • Create and maintain narratives and flow charts. Maintain the RCM (risk control matrix) document.
  • Manage and continuously leverage the SOX management software

Qualifications

You have a bachelor degree in accounting, business administration or related field with a minimum of 3 years of working experience within internal controls or audit (industry or Big 4/regional auditing firm). You have completed relevant certifications (CIA, CISA, CPA, or other relevant certs).

You have a current knowledge of emerging industry trends, regulations and COSO framework. You have knowledge of GAAP and PCAOB audit standards and SEC reporting experience. You also have experience leading and executing projects simultaneously with the ability to influence global cross functional teams and work with other internal/external departments and stakeholders.

You possess a high degree of work ethic, integrity and commitment and have the ability to manager and prioritize multiple assignments, working under tight deadlines. You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. This role does require occasional travel to our headquarters in the UK.
