Job Description

We are seeking a Scientist to lead the development of novel immunoassays in our Eugene, OR facility. The candidate will join a well established and highly successful immunoassay development team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immunology and biochemistry and extensive experience in multiple laboratory techniques including, but not limited to, ELISA, Western blotting, flow cytometry, high content imaging and other antibody-based laboratory research methods.

The candidate must be able to work on problems of diverse scope and high complexity, exercising sound judgment to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria. They must have previously demonstrated successful technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration and independent thought.

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Line management of Research Associate/s
  • Document optimized assays as commercialized research use only products
  • Transfer developed methods and products to Manufacturing team and scale up.
  • Communicate experimental detail information both verbally and in technical reports and notes
  • Comply with all safety and quality regulations
  • May be required to perform other duties as required/assigned
  • Maintain good laboratory records and establish and troubleshoot SOPs
  • Operate within our quality management system and safety practices.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position should hold a PhD or M.S. degree in immunology, biology, biochemistry, or a closely related field. Additionally, they should have accumulated at least 5 years of hands-on experience within a laboratory setting, specifically with a focus on utilizing antibody and ELISA methods, preferably in an industrial context. The candidate should also demonstrate expertise in team management and talent development, showcasing their ability to foster team growth to address organizational requirements. Familiarity with Biosafety Level 2 or higher-classified laboratory environments is essential.

Given the nature of the role, candidates should be prepared for extended periods of both standing and sitting. A meticulous approach to maintaining accurate and comprehensive records is crucial, underscoring the need for strong organizational skills.
