Job Summary
Conducts research, data collection, interpretation, monitoring, and reporting in order to develop knowledge and skill in the product development process; prepares reports identified by management in order to execute strategic growth and development plans; evaluates product plans and sales analytics; makes recommendations and develops the business case for new products, strategies or changing existing strategies or programs
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Conducts research through various means and analyzes current market positions; conducts competitor analysis; develops analytical tools and models; maintains, implements, and evolves existing analytical models; develops and contributes ideas and market point of view on fundamentals driving the markets
- Develops and maintains an internal and external network of analytical and industry contacts to contribute to market coverage and maintains awareness of other analytical thinking and methodology; leverages knowledge into ideas for profitable opportunities in trading strategies
- Makes recommendations to improve the product design and sales growth of assigned products; provides sales analysis and reporting on new and existing products; interprets trends and makes recommendations to enhance or discontinue sales efforts within lines of business; proactively identifies opportunities for performance improvement
- Monitors assigned products for sales patterns, market or niche penetration, and other pertinent performance data; develops and maintains metrics by analyzing sales and performance statistics and products and services offered; maintains a database of the information used in producing internal comparisons; provides sales research reports and presentations responsive to senior and executive management needs
- Maintains contacts with all channels to monitor and analyze attitudes and needs regarding existing and new products; summarizes findings and presents recommendations; evaluates the effectiveness of product introductions, and recommends changes or improvements
- Acts as team lead to work with the management team, field force, and the business units in providing input on product strategies to ensure sales growth and profitability; provides demographic analysis on territories and states, including market potential and penetration analysis, agent analysis, payroll and direct market analysis, and sales analysis
- Provides data for the development of U.S. sales; works with management in providing metrics strongly impacting the company and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the data; assists organization with recommendations to change current sales techniques, procedures, or promotional efforts based on sales and product research and new trends
- Provides demographic analysis of states by region, state op, or border state to include: market potential and penetration analysis, channel analysis, payroll and direct market analysis, persistency analysis, product analysis, and sales analysis
- Performs other duties as required
Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor's Degree Marketing, Business Administration, or related field
- Five or more years experience in related field
Education & Experience Preferred
- Experience in product development
- Experience with design thinking methodology or other innovation frameworks
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Knowledge & Skills
- Experience creating financial models, to include sales forecasts/projections. Develops appropriate analytical model, reports, and metrics to support informed decision making; Strong financial acumen with the ability to prepare trend analysis
- Insurance industry or financial services industry experience
- Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
