What will you be doing in this role?
- Demonstrated knowledge of public security and protection principles and practices
- Experience in using building automation, fire, and burglar alarm systems
- Demonstrated experience using and an understanding of human resources laws, regulations, policies and procedures, quality management tools, concepts/methodology, practices, and techniques
- Knowledge of Aflac’s organizational and functional operating structure, products, administrative procedures, policy data, benefit plans, and terminology
- Excellent presentation, oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills to effectively interact with Aflac’s senior management, internal and external customers, and visitors; ability to communicate with others in an antagonistic situation using appropriate interpersonal styles, tact, and methods to reduce tension or conflict and maintain professionalism in accordance with corporate standards
- Successful completion of CPR/First Aid & AED certification every two years
- Successfully pass Federal Aviation Administration background check and possess AOA aviation badge
- Successful completion of annual taser training including Use of Force Training and taser familiarization training
Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor's Degree In Business Administration or criminal justice
- Four to six years of security experience
- Three years of supervisory/senior/lead experience
- Successful completion of the International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO) and Certified in Security Supervisor Management (CSSM) course
- Successful completion of the Aflac Security Operations Center Certification program
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Leads, motivates, and coaches the security officers and supervisor team; provides consistent and constructive feedback to employees; trains, develops, or identifies employees’ training and resource needs, maintains employee personnel records, establishes priorities, schedules daily work, and monitors the quality and quantity of work performed by the department and the individuals within the department; recommends promotions and terminations, etc.
- Schedules personnel to ensure that the company’s operations are staffed appropriately; follows up and reviews department operations and productivity levels to ensure that schedules and accuracy are maintained to established standards; plans, develops, and administers departmental procedures and policies, and ensures that organization policies and procedures are communicated and practiced; develops appropriate measures or standards for performance, and uses these to monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve services and employees and recommend equipment changes and additions
- Assists with the development and implementation of approved plans and the annual budget to support the achievement of department/division goals; leads and/or participates on projects and services necessary to support and improve existing processes and services; maintains adequate control of resources to ensure ongoing operations of the department within established budget, productivity, and efficiency standards; establishes and maintains effective working relationships with internal customers and services vendors to proactively address issues that may have the potential to impact the quality and growth of the department’s business or result in costly penalties and fines from regulatory agencies
- Ensures the timely and accurate dissemination of information, incentives, rewards, and/or recognition; ensures that appropriate documentation is developed as required by the organization and/or vendor standards and methodology; ensures that a current and historical library is maintained on all department/project activity, system implementation, upgrades and modifications, policies and procedures
- Provides the necessary training, and encourages practices and work behavior that support and ensure employee security and safety; monitors the maintenance, upgrade or modification of department equipment and all associated software packages; schedules repair services or oversees unanticipated interruption to production to ensure that there is minimal downtime
- Serves as the back-up for the Senior Security Specialist which will include the following: Administrator for the company’s employee identification card system; maintains petty cash on monies that are collected upon issuance of identifications badges; processes various security clearance and special accesses for employees and consultants/temporary workers; issues all parking decals and temporary parking permits for the company to employees and consultants/temporary workers; provides audit and badge reports for HR, IT and other various department on a monthly, quarterly and as needed bases

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate. The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $105,000.
