Position: Senior Business Consultant

  • Define, develop and provide information and analysis to drive the decision-making process and support business operations for internal and external customers
  • Lead process improvement initiatives; utilize established process improvement frameworks to consult with and drive process improvement efforts at Business Units
  • Develop and use current state process maps; work with Business Units to define pain points and/or improvement opportunities
  • Identify root causes of defects and recommend action items to address defects
  • Build future state maps and documents; present recommendations and help Business Units develop and implement improvement plan
  • Proactively investigate the operating procedures of business units with a focus on the analysis, definition and documentation of business processes and rules that represent current or desired SOPs; oversee the population and management of a business rules’ repository
  • Participate in process reviews related to system development efforts to promote business rule definition and automation
  • Perform impact analysis related to the implementation, update, and retirement of business rules, with a high level of understanding of the organization’s business systems and terminology, as well as manual processes
  • Assist with investigating the needs of the business units with focus on the analysis and modeling of processes and rules; make recommendations to integrate new and existing processes and rules
  • Participate in process and rules reviews and updates to ensure that processes and systems meet changing business unit conditions
  • Develop, document, institutionalize and continually enable a business rules’ methodology that complements the business process engineering methodology
  • Collect, analyze and document enterprise and business-unit specific rules
  • Mentor and coach Business Systems Analysts in process modeling techniques
  • Continually research and evaluate industry trends in business process modeling tools and techniques

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • Must have 6 years of progressive experience in business analyst or development positions performing the following:
    • Completion of full project development life cycle from requirements gathering to implementation.
    • Working in an Agile development environment.
    • Technical writing
    • Troubleshooting/problem-solving skills in a software environment
    • Applying strong knowledge of how systems support business operations, collection of technical requirements, and modeling concepts
    • Ability to convert functional requirements into Use Cases for complex functionalities
    • Utilizing experience with: SQL, Relational Databases, Agile/Scrum methodologies, SDLC methodologies, Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs), Business Process Models using BPMN, Conceptual Data Models, and Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs)
    • Applying experience and knowledge of insurance domain
    • Demonstrating knowledge of Long Duration Targeted Improvement requirements and its impact on US GAAP and FASB standards and regulations for the insurance industry.
  • Position may be eligible to work hybrid/remotely but is based out of and reports to Aflac offices in Columbus, GA. Must be available to travel to Columbus, GA regularly for meetings and reviews with manager and project teams within 24-hours’ notice.
  • Salary Range: $120,000 - $131,000
