Worker Designation – This role is a remote role. This means you will be expected to work from your home, within the continental US. If the role is remote, there may be occasions that you are requested to come to the office based on business need. Any requests to come to the office would be communicated with you in advance.

Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor's Degree business administration or a related field
- 4 years of work-related experience that has provided a thorough understanding of
- underwriting principles and medical terminology/conditions
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Education & Experience Preferred
- FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute), FALU (Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting), or equivalent training and certification
- Group Insurance product knowledge and understanding – Life, Disability and Absence.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
of underwriting technical expertise and proficiency, drawing on considerable experience at the underwriter level; evaluates unique situations that require extensive evaluation; monitors trends and identifies the need for new or revised procedures and practices
within strict guidelines set for the issuance of policies; handles underwriting pend support; orders and reviews all requirements for underwriting; reviews and handles reinstatement and addition cases
departments; researches and responds in writing to requests for information about declined applications; researches and responds to customer requests and inquiries
Medical Information Bureau; assists senior underwriter with special medical studies, reports, and product development initiatives
findings to management; participates in the training and ongoing education of less experienced underwriters and internal business partners; evaluates processes and analyzes root cause and makes recommendations for improvements
updating and maintaining the Underwriting guidelines by LOB
the day-to day services provided by the business unit or operational functions and team processes; interprets and applies division and organizational policies and procedures, and recommends changes or enhancements to procedures or processes
communicates training and performance needs to supervisors and employees; uses various evaluation and feedback methods (checking work, problem time, etc.) to measure and communicate performance status; ensures successful transition of new employees from training to the work environment
Total Rewards
The salary range for this job is $65,000 to $95,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.
At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
