About the role:
The Trade Planning Manager is responsible for supporting the development and execution of the Retail Merchandise strategy through the delivery of key data and insights and managing key stakeholder relationships to deliver the trade plan on time.
Reporting to the Head of Merchandise Planning, this role takes ownership of the Retail Merchandise Promotional Programme, including the development of tools, systems, and processes to manage key commercial outcomes.
The Trade Planning Manager develops critical collaborative relationships with stakeholders including Merchandise buying teams, Retail Supply Chain, Marketing-Communications, Retail Operations and Finance, to ensure that insights are digestible and actionable, and processes are optimised.
This role also develops and supports key Retail Merchandise projects via the agreed Project governance framework.
Key responsibilities:
- Inform (through data, insights and recommendations) and govern pricing and promotional strategies
- Manage the analytic function for the Retail Merchandise department, through delivery of data and insights across key Merchandise Planning functions, notably price and promotion. This role has additional scope to support the Space and Range, Systems, and Buying teams across an array of analytic areas
- Manage the monthly Retail Merchandise promotional calendar, promotional performance and improvement of key merchandise processes and policies, including promotional process, retail pricing policy
- Work closely with Head of Merchandise Planning, GM Merchandise, Merchandise Planning Leadership team to support strategy development through data-driven decision-making
- Manage strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to inform and execute the trade plan
As we grow, this role may also grow, and reasonable changes may need to be made in accordance with the needs of the business.
About you:
You will be a functional Data Analysis and Insights SME with previous experience in medium sized Multi-Site Retail, Petrol and Convenience, QSR or FMCG supported by a Tertiary qualification in economics, finance, accounting, marketing, commerce, or experience equivalent.
You will demonstrate experience in managing large organisational Strategic Programmes, including Retail Promotions, Pricing, Format Development, Range and Space and/or Analysis and Insights.
Key skills and experience:
- Analytical and strategic thinking skills, strong knowledge of MS Excel, including model/reporting development. Experience with dynamic dashboarding software such as PowerBI is also desirable
- Experience working with senior internal and external stakeholders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including production of board-level documents and presentations in MS Word and MS PowerPoint
- Ability to demonstrate creativity and innovation in applying solutions for the benefit of the stakeholder
- Experience leading teams and complex projects with multiple dependencies to delivery of actionable insights
- Experience in developing pricing and promotions tools and systems
