The largest surface shipbuilding endeavour in the nation's history is now underway in Australia. About the Opportunity
As a Lawyer, you will be responsible for the implementation of legal solutions to assist BAE Systems Maritime Australia in a fast moving complex working environment. The position is accountable to the Senior Legal Counsel for BAE Systems Maritime Australia for business legal support and compliance.
In more specific terms you will:

Provide timely and relevant legal support and advice to all functions within the business, striking the right balance between managing risk and delivering competitive customer solutions
Negotiate and / or document contracts in a manner that is clear, concise and capable of successful delivery and where applicable supporting the commercial and procurement functions in reviewing, negotiating and documenting those contracts
Managing stakeholders including working with and briefing other BAE Systems businesses, parent company legal stakeholders, customers and senior management
Provide legal support to the facilities function including documenting and / or negotiating real estate transactions such as leases and licences
Maintain a culture of delivering the highest standards of legal, regulatory and ethical compliance and compliance with mandated company policies
Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations
Prepare, review and enhance legal functional tools such as precedent documents, legal policies and training materials
Deliver training to support business needs
Support the Chief Counsel, Senior Legal Counsel and Legal Counsel as required on strategic campaigns and other material legal matters
Weekly reporting into senior management on progress of legal issues
Support the business with regulatory approvals as required
