Meaningful Work From Day OneResponsible for all maintenance, boiler operations, plant facilities and systems at the Brown-Forman Cooperage (BFC). Responsible for a plant maintenance budget of approximately $3 million and supporting capital projects and their associated budget. Directly and indirectly supervises the activities of 2 salaried positions and approximately 22 highly skilled maintenance technicians.
Serves as the liaison with Engineering, coordinates engineering work with contractors, consultants, and cooperage operations management. Assists Plant Manager with maintenance related activities as necessary, including cost reduction, productivity improvement, regulatory required and modernization projects. Works with Plant Manager to develop and execute the capital and major maintenance budgets and the BFC Maintenance/Boiler Operations departmental budgets. Provides direction and support to the site maintenance team and is responsible for all plant maintenance. Ensures that all maintenance activities and areas of responsibility adhere to required regulatory, safety, environmental and quality requirements and provides for the training and development of subordinates.
What You Can Expect
Responsible for all maintenance, facilities upkeep, and boiler operations at Brown-Forman Cooperage. Provides direction and support to the maintenance employees; sets policy and establishes procedures for the department; monitors and manages maintenance and inventory management of all parts and activities to ensure productive, efficient operations, compliant with all Corporate and regulatory requirements.
Provides some engineering support to the Brown-Forman Cooperage operations and facilities. Coordinates with Maintenance and Engineering Manager to develop, implement, and support engineering projects and process improvements for cost savings, productivity improvement, equipment replacement and modernization, facility repair and improvement and to meet quality, safety, environmental or other regulatory requirements. Provide leadership for the application of Continuous Improvement Pillars, tools, and training to meet business objectives.
Helps prepare and present capital, major maintenance, and departmental budgets for areas of responsibility and manages projects and operations within budget. May assist other areas such as production operations in preparing annual budgets as needed.
Performs cost and productivity analysis and studies; assists operations management in developing and establishing performance standards, standard operating procedures.
Stays abreast of changing regulatory, environmental, safety, OSHA and other requirements through training and education as they pertain to maintenance support. Provides for the general growth and development of subordinate staff, establishes performance standards, and monitors and evaluates performance within these standards. Execution of plant policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Company/Corporate directed EH&S, Quality, and GMP requirements. Must be aware of, willing to conform to, and capable of conforming to the Brown-Forman GMP requirements.
Provide direction and oversight for the installation, preventative maintenance, and repairs of all process equipment in adherence with quality standards and regulations.
Works with equipment manufacturers, supervision, and trades to design and maintain effective preventive maintenance programs for all equipment and systems. Develops preventative maintenance work order packages. Provides recommendations for preventative maintenance program improvements.
We Are Looking For People
Who have Bachelor' Degree and 5-7 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment OR a combination of education and applicable maintenance leadership experience. Previous managerial systems experience leading maintenance operations in an industrial environment. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare and present finished reports and project updates using Google Suite, other computer applications. Experience with a CMMS such as E Maint.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders, climb over and under conveyors and generally move about in a manufacturing environment while inspecting, observing, and managing operations.
What You Can Add To The Team
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Civil Engineering. A Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree or master’s degree in Engineering.
Preferred union supervisory experience, PLC control systems, experience in woodworking industry.
