ABOUT THE TEAM:
You will join the Cellular Software Engineering team that is responsible for cellular technology, Security, and SD-WAN products. You will use your skills to help test in delivering high-quality cellular products. You will drive nightly feature tests across the latest firmware images to performance testing of all kinds. We run large-scale testing to measure how small changes could impact our performance. Our automation testing framework is being used across software engineering, and we continue to make it more intuitive. You will be a domain expert on the cellular side. You will use 3GPP and cellular protocol expertise to define and invent the next level of cellular evolution on the platform side.

We are looking for a cellular test engineer who is as passionate about quality as we are. Your expertise in cellular technology will make a direct impact on the success of next-generation appliances for cellular technology which will contribute greatly to our business.
Please note that this position requires that you commute to either the San Francisco, CA, or San Jose, CA office 2-3 days per week.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
You will participate in an agile environment where our team is passionate about delivering next-generation cellular appliances to customers. You will contribute to the architecture of cellular products so it is easy to deploy and debug for our customers. You will define test plans and network topologies from the ground up that has the ability to dynamically change on the fly. We have an in-house automation framework at your disposal as well as APIs to hook into for further automation. You will have the autonomy to craft and implement a solution as well as the knowledge and experience of team members to help you along the way!
In addition to software testing, you may have a chance to work on our latest hardware appliances from an early development phase. You will get to learn some of the cool technologies inside the box. Through testing, you will gain firsthand knowledge about the performance and be able to guide the team in improving the quality before we release the product.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN YOUR BACKGROUND:
- 5+ years of experience with firmware/embedded software testing in a data networking environment
- 3+ years of test automation experience with cellular technology
- Outstanding programming skills with scripting languages like Ruby and/or Python
- Understanding of LTE and 5G architectures and using them on the modem side.
- Experience with R&S, Amarisoft, real MME/Enodeb, and use of EPC.
- Expertise in 3GPP protocol should be proficient with NAS protocol, RRC, and modem SDK.
- Solid understanding of core network protocols like TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, etc.
- Passionate about automation testing.
- Used development infrastructure tools such as Jenkins, Git, Gerrit, and JIRA.
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:
- Testing experience in security or cloud networking environment
- Experience in scaling or performance testing using equipment such as Ixia or Spirent.
- Worked with virtualization or container technology, such as ESXi, Xen, Docker, etc.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%. Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
