This opportunity is a Senior Executive Service (SES) role for a fixed term, full-time appointment for up to five (5) years.
In alignment with the WA Government’s Public Sector Reform (March 2025), this position will initially sit within DEMIRS but will join the renamed Department of Energy and Economic Diversification (formerly Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI)) from 1 July 2025.

The role
Our Energy Policy Group oversees the provision of innovative and quality advice and initiatives that shape the energy sector for the benefit of Western Australia. PoweringWA’s role within Energy Policy is to coordinate the delivery of electricity infrastructure to support the achievement of WA’s economic diversification and energy decarbonisation goals.
As the Executive Director, Energy Strategy Stakeholder Relations you will lead and direct the operations of social performance strategies and stakeholder relations to build social license and support the delivery of the State’s energy transition. You will oversee the modelling of social performance and communication strategies, management of stakeholder engagement and ensure alignment between PoweringWA’s strategic goals and its messaging.
Your role will be pivotal in leading multi-disciplinary teams, growing the internal expertise and capability of PoweringWA through staff development, mentoring and coaching, setting the direction of strategic engagement with stakeholders, developing and maintaining trusting and respectful relationships, shaping the narrative around the emerging renewables industry, defining brand and advocacy strategies, driving the delivery of strategic engagement initiatives and directing the developing and delivery of strategic community engagement initiatives.

- Substantial experience in the development and delivery of strategic communications and engagement programs, utilising a data-driven approach to build brand trust, and drive social performance and engagement strategies, preferably within the energy sector.
- Demonstrated experience in undertaking projects, program design and/or negotiations on complex matters to achieve outcomes that reflect a strategic priority of statewide significance.
- Ability to communicate economic and electricity system transition concepts and analysis to a broad audience that includes community, industry and government decision makers.
