The opportunity
We are looking for a Manager to join our Infrastructure Advisory practice in Brisbane.
Our Infrastructure Advisory practice advises Government on some of the highest profile projects around Australia, and major companies charged with delivering, operating and maintaining that infrastructure. You will have the opportunity to work across all major infrastructure sectors; from power and utilities to transport, health and human services, education and justice, to trade and export industries.
Within those sectors you’ll be advising across the infrastructure lifecycle. This includes policy development and strategy, economic analysis, financial and commercial analysis in support of project investment decision-making, procurement, supporting transaction evaluation, negotiation and execution, and advising on strategy and optimisation post-delivery. Some of our existing work includes:
- Major interstate rail programmes
- Significant metropolitan public transport projects
- Energy reform, policy and market design
- Renewable and clean energy projects, and strategy and regulation initiatives
- Projects relating to emerging technologies including distributed energy resources, batteries and hydrogen
- Other social infrastructure sectors such as health, education and housing.
Your key responsibilities
- Build and/or use financial models
- Draft clear, well written and easy to understand reports and presentations
- Provide commercial, financial and strategic advice to clients in consultation with senior staff and partners
- Manage assignments by ensuring that work products and services are oriented to each client’s needs, and are clear, accurate and well presented
- Manage and be accountable for internal budgets and administration and ensure quality and risk management protocols are followed
- Support business development including the production of proposals
- Oversee and manage the work of consultants and senior consultants in the team
- Providing formal work mentoring/counselling to consultants and senior consultants
- Building relationships with clients and other industry professionals, including to support business development activities.
Skills and attributes for success
- Professional experience in a relevant role or sector. For example, this experience could have been gained in an accounting or law firm, management consultancy, engineering practice, infrastructure firm, private sector industry participant, or within any level of government
- A strong interest in infrastructure; experience in the commercial and financial aspects of transport, social infrastructure, major transactions and/or energy markets
- Willingness to apply your skills across multiple sectors and multiple disciplines
- Excellent interpersonal and client management skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in internal and external forums
- Advanced report writing, analysis, ability to think non-linearly and strategically when problem solving and general commercial skills and acumen
- Ability to lead and manage multiple projects / people concurrently, and effectively prioritise competing demands
- A proactive, supportive and respectful approach to their team, and able to function under pressure but also demonstrate judgment in asking for help when required.
