A major milestone was achieved at Cowal with Board and regulatory approvals received for the development of the Cowal Underground Mine, which provides a higher-grade ore source that will be blended with the current E42 open pit and stockpile ore. The development of the Cowal Underground Mine is part of the Group’s goal of Cowal producing 350,000 ounces of low-cost gold a year and extend its mine life out beyond 17 years, while at the same time injecting significant economic benefit for all stakeholders. The planned capital investment is A$380 million.
About the role
Reporting to the General Manager, the Integrated Planning Manager is responsible and accountable for delivering all targets associated with the Balanced Business Plan. This role is responsible for the mine, project, and geological mine planning with a focus of >3months outlook. In this role you will be leading and optimising the planning and project processes, setting direction through solid leadership and strategic positioning.
Key responsibility areas and duties include:
Safety, Health & Environment
- Ensuring the Integrated Planning team achieves workplace health, safety and
environmental targets and personnel comply with all procedures and policies
Work Execution
- Cost / Schedule control of major projects and effective risk management
- Delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual targets
- Setting strategic direction for the mining and processing operations
Planning Budget & Forecasting
- Managing, controlling, and owning the Integrated Planning, work schedule, manpower and cost budgets
Operational Efficiency
- Collaboration with other Managers and external groups to ensure that overall site future planning objectives can be met
Cost Control.
- Providing strategic direction to business development and innovation for both operational and capital spend
- Monitoring performance against budget Challenge existing practices to identify cost saving, productivity, and safety improvements
Workforce Leadership
- Managing and leading the Integrated Planning to ensure high morale, motivation, and standards of work across the team.
Business Process Compliance
- Maintaining planning and project monitoring standards
- Building Project Tracking and reporting templates
About you
Our aim is to ensure our people are developed to enable them to progress their career to ensure they can apply their expertise within the site leadership team. You must be a competent user of MS Word and Excel who is good at planning and organising.
To be considered you must have/ demonstrate
- Mining Engineering / Geology or Metallurgical degree
- At least 10 years of mining related experience
- Project Management experience specifically -cost and schedule control
- Long term planning and strategic planning experience
- Knowledge of geology, mine processes, open pits, underground, projects and
- geometallurgy
- Regulatory compliance and knowledge of NSW safety regulations
- Safety management systems and frameworks
