The Business Manager reports to the Chief of Staff and serves as the trusted partner to the Azure IoT leadership team for all areas related to Business Excellence and reacts to the ongoing needs of our staff enabling the business to operate profitably, efficiently and in compliance end-to-end. The BM must be integrated with and cognizant of the business rhythms across the Operations, Finance and Recruiting teams.
In this role you will have tangible impact on an organization of over 500 team members (and growing), getting things done across large and diverse global teams and developing practices that streamline the business and drive results. You will partner closely with leadership and our partners (recruiting, HR, etc.) to establish and manage a rhythm of business around headcount, recruiting and onboarding, space and reporting of associated success metrics on a regular basis. The role will exercise and develop your general management skills, partnering with and supporting across all levels of the team. You’ll be a vital, trusted member of this tight-knit team, an exemplar of cultural alignment and the highest professional standards. You will manage confidential information without exception. You’ll participate in challenging, fast paced execution and will contribute big-picture thinking and strategic execution. Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities: Role Deliverables
- Ownership of the headcount for the teams, ensuring prioritization against strategic imperatives, partnering with recruiting and hiring managers to ensure vital roles are filled promptly and ensure the leadership has agility to respond to opportunistic openings.
- Partner with the leadership team, HR, and Recruiting to create and manage the Work Force Planning processes – including recruiting, headcount, selection, space, and tracking org success metrics.
- Take ownership for the execution of reporting on areas of the budget to drive efficiencies, track spend and create new opportunities
- Investment analyses in support of key strategic initiatives and to make decisions on resource prioritization, and monitoring investments.
- Work with Chief of Staff to build out and drive Monthly Business Reviews with leadership and provide reporting and analyses, covering financial, headcount, org health and key operational, business and product metrics, including providing actionable business insights that enable effective management and decision-making.
- Build user friendly reports and communications that are audience specific to ensure clarity and drive alignment. Create, track, and report on organizational metrics
- Collaborate with the headquarters teams to ensure the effective landing and adoption of change to roles, processes, tools and reporting. You will be responsible for the local change management plan, partnering both globally and locally.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Education, Key Experiences, Skills and Knowledge
- 4+ years of experience in business analysis, business management or operational role, preferably with technology/software engineering teams
- BA/BS or equivalent four-year degree in a relevant field required. MBA or other post-graduate qualification preferred, but not required.
- Excellent cross-team collaboration, with proven ability to work across organizations and reporting boundaries to get things done
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Business background that could include operations, marketing, business management
Power user of SharePoint, OneNote, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and analytics tools (PowerBI, etc.) and communication technologies - Experienced in project management and has a track record of performing in high-performing management teams
- Comfortable dealing with a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and engaging in cross-group collaboration
- Strong, strategic problem solver who is comfortable working independently and thinking holistically about key issues
- Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills with a focus on tangible, measurable results
