This is a unique opportunity for a talented Communications Manager to work in the Customer Service & Support (CSS) Applications & Infrastructure team. You will play an important role in managing employee experience and culture marketing communications programs and projects for this fast-growing, high-impact organization that provides support for Microsoft’s commercial customers’ most complex infrastructure and business critical applications.
A successful candidate must be a self-starter, who enjoys and has proven success in influencing and driving multiple communications projects and programs simultaneously. You must be an exceptional writer, a strategic communicator, and strong team player with a passion for Microsoft’s culture and a growth mindset, with expertise at driving impact and change. This role requires strong writing, PowerPoint, storytelling, editing and project management skills, and familiarity with a wide array of communications delivery vehicles and Microsoft products.
This role reports to the Director of Communications and will work closely with other team members and senior leaders and staff on the timely creation and delivery of content that connects employees to strategies, instills pride, builds community, including creating and managing employee communications strategies and rhythms and internal events, videos, podcasts and social media programs and assets. A successful candidate will have a firm grasp on content creation, program management and community management strategies. As a key member of the CSS and CE&S extended communications teams, the successful candidate will work with the program leaders and communications professionals across the CE&S organization. Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Editorial oversight. Co-manages a shared editorial calendar for integrated communications efforts, organized by themes and audience. Drives outcomes and measures overall success.
- Strategic Collaboration. Collaborates with team members on communications planning and strategy to inform and facilitate employee communications and culture activation. Partners closely with Communications Lead and Leadership Team.
- Content development and management. Contributes to key story beats. Works with team members and internal partners to develop human interest stories aligned to CE&S/CSS business priorities. Creates and centrally manages core content assets and templates to ensure content alignment and consistency and amplification, leveraging SharePoint.
- Event Management. Coordinates and contributes to event management and presentation development and refinement. Develops engaging communications to promote, inspire and engage intended audiences using email, digital, presentations and social media channels. Manages all logistics and AV for priority events (including Town Hall meetings, monthly speaker series, manager events, etc.).
- Video, Podcast Management. Collaborates on video and podcast storytelling, production and distribution, working closely with stakeholders.
- Web/SharePoint. Contributes to strategy and content development for team’s central online portal to ensure cohesive storytelling about the team.
- Social/Yammer Campaign Management. Develops content, cadence, and analytics for social/Yammer campaigns.
- Reporting/Metrics. Utilizes data and feedback mechanisms, including qualitative and quantitative metrics, to review impact and engagement of communications programs and inform adjustments. Maintains regular reporting cadence on progress.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Business or similar field.
- 6 or more years of experience as a communications manager in the tech sector, managing corporate communications programs, and Microsoft Office experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven track record managing impactful internal communications strategies and programs, including events, newsletters, presentations, social media and other content distribution channels.
- Proven storytelling experience within a corporate environment, communicating to a large, global audience at all levels of the organization.
- Strong written communication skills, including ability to simplify the complex into understandable narratives, in digestible social copy and short- and long-form storytelling formats, using the voice of the business.
- Broad communications experience across a variety of marketing platforms including but not limited to web, email, e-newsletters, apps, video, podcasts, events, and Microsoft products (SharePoint, PowerPoint, Teams, Yammer, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills; thrives at creating clarity through an organized, methodical, repeatable approach to program management.
- Creative thinker who can develop impactful and memorable communications for a variety of audiences and topics while driving impact at scale.
- Adept at managing multiple communication projects simultaneously and driving strong workback plans and milestones
- Ability to work effectively across groups, drive successful workstreams and contribute to the success of others.
- Ability to contribute consistently and positively in a high-paced, fast-changing and sometimes unpredictable work environment.
