The mission of the Critical Environment Telemetry Team is to establish and maintain the availability of essential telemetry for Microsoft’s largest datacenters. This data is utilized by multiple internal teams to operate, inform, and optimize datacenter operations.
As a Critical Environments Telemetry Engineer, you will be actively involved in the onboarding and support activities related to electrical and mechanical telemetry by a large engineering team for Microsoft’s largest and most mission critical datacenters. This role calls for subject matter experts in the Industrial Controls Systems (ICS) space who are not afraid to dive into packet and register-level data analysis and troubleshooting.

- Configure, validate, and maintain availability of telemetry utilizing SCADA systems
- Perform data analysis and troubleshooting to maintain availability of telemetry systems
- Develop documentation and train new engineers
- Provide training to datacenter staff regarding ICS data
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 1+ years of experience in critical environments (EPMS/BAS)
- 3+ years of advanced working experience with Modbus and/or BACnet
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Experience with SCADA systems implementations
- Understanding of datacenter electrical and mechanical systems (preferred)
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
