About the role - Global Societal Impact & Sustainability Leader – You will continue to shape the strategy, build global and national partnerships, rally our people to volunteer/mentor and leverage our tech platform to maximize the societal impact of social entrepreneurs with a strong focus on sustainability one country at a time.
Success in this role requires deep knowledge and passion for sustainability and the Impact economy: NGOs, social business, Tech for Good, Impact incubators, Social Entrepreneurs Communities (Schwab, Ashoka, Skoll) an entrepreneurial mindset, extensive partnership and multi stakeholders’ management, technology background and understanding of product, business development skills, inspiring communication skills internally and externally, a global perspective of social and economic development, an ability to meet metrics, share meaningful insights, and drive the holistic program strategy forward.
Key goals
- Generate a broad set of innovative solutions and partnerships in the sustainability field, be the resident expert for sustainability on the team, connecting the local field teams with our corporate teams. As the sustainability leader, be a strong liaison with engineering, sales, legal, and all aspects of the company to drive the sustainability pillar without our program.
- Establish our company as the most trusted and leading (share) Tech for Good partner for the Impact economy.
- Create a differentiated societal value at the core of our National Transformation Partnership strategy in each one of our areas and countries.
- Position our company as a thought leader for Tech for Good innovation with our premium customers.
Responsibilities
- Enable Microsoft global sustainability strategy, connecting all the dots across teams, to enable Microsoft to become the platform of choice for social impact organizations by ensuring true partnership, shared vision for change and fostering commitment to collective success.
- Accountable to ensure NTP team and those in our ecosystem are maintaining consistent and credible standards while also encouraging a “living lab” to improve the innovation, accuracy, and precision of our sustainability measurement approaches.
- Optimize the effectiveness and impact of participation external working groups focused on improving sustainability measurement,
- Develop a strong sustainability recruiting sales pipeline by establishing strategic partnerships with key Community ecosystems, accelerators, incubators, public sector entities and by partnering with the MS Startup team, working closely with our EfPI team in NTP, to land an online digital recruitment and engagement experience.
- Mobilize cross company resources (Startup Business Group, Field Leadership, Microsoft Philanthropies, and others) to maximize value.
- Establish an FY23 operational plan to achieve a step change with the Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) Environmental Sustainability (ES) team is leading a One Microsoft Sustainability Measurement (OMSM)initiative in reaching One Microsoft alignment and activated the Microsoft Cloud in close alignment with the NTP team and Area level resources.
- Orchestrate signature design wins with Social Entrepreneurs and S500 (Top Strategic) Account Teams resulting in high impact results and case studies / top stories that can be leveraged to further promote the value of the program.
- Align with National Transformation Partnerships Team Charter across the company.
- Lead the Rhythm of Business - monthly and quarterly progress reports on program KPIs to regional and global stakeholders. Develop journey stories for hi-potential start-ups.
- Connect startups with resources and opportunities across Microsoft to maximize their impact (i.e., technical, industry, EfPI).
- Maintain a bird’s-eye view of the social impact landscape to capture market trends and opportunities for program strategy evolution.
- Ensure our company values area aligned, work down hand in hand with the ecosystem at scale.
- Develop the partner ecosystem around this pillar.
- Build the engines but lead change across the company that aligns with our process, social entrepreneurship.
- Develop and harness the change maker community within Microsoft’s employee base.
Qualifications
- Sustainability industry and product knowledge, as a thought leader in sustainability landscape.
- Understanding sustainability metrics, ecosystem and consideration of the Enterprise and Small, Medium and Corporate (SMC) space.
- Strategic execution, operational excellenc.e
- Sales acumen and ability to influence field sales organizations.
- Social Entrepreneurship experience or building equivalent programs within foundations or similar organizations, globally
- Strong verbal, analytical and networking skills.
- Demonstrated experience in the impact, social entrepreneurship, or sustainability industries
- Experience in raising capital and taking start-up(s) to the market.
- Ability to meet monthly goals in fast moving environment with minimal oversight.
- Comfort with pitching, evangelizing, and representing the program to internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent business acumen and entrepreneurial, grit and resilience.
- Growth mindset with problem-solving skills.
- Experience in collaborating with entrepreneurs and impact investing professionals.
- Ability to navigate large companies and influence stakeholders with diverse incentives to align goals and objectives.
Location/Travel: You may be based anywhere in the United States, with a preference for Redmond, WA. You can expect limited global travel, 0 – 25%.

The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $161,800 and $242,600.
At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
