Responsibilities

You will be responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure, data pipelines, Azure services, and APIs that support Studio Alpha’s 3d geospatial engine. We build systems that use GIS data to enable complex simulations and decision-making—if this sounds exciting to you, you will be in great company! Experience with geospatial data is a big plus.

We are looking for a candidate with a combination of software, data, and systems engineering skills who will implement modern, scalable, and performant services in Azure. More specifically, as a software engineer, you will:

  • Deliver production services that customers trust and depend on
  • Be a key voice in all design discussions—you will be a decision-maker around the team’s technical challenges
  • Architect, implement, and have accountability over scalable, fault-tolerant cloud services. Design for reliability, ease of deployment, maintainability, and troubleshooting
  • Make engineering investments and build reusable components to ship faster with higher quality and consistency
  • Lead our DevOps efforts, including CI/CD, automation, and testing pipeline development
  • Build and design APIs that are easy to use, maintainable, and performant
  • Adopt best engineering practices and help others do the same
  • Ensure security and regulatory compliance across our stack
  • Foster a culture of excellence, inclusion, collaboration, and customer focus

Qualifications

Required

  • 4+ years of experience as a software engineer developing and operating complex systems using C++, Java or similar modern development language
  • Experience with building, deploying or operating applications and services on cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Kubernetes, Docker)

Preferred

  • Experience with geographic information systems (GIS)
  • Track record of excellence in software engineering, including design, coding, code reviews, testing, and devops
  • Experience with streaming, high-volume data
  • Excellent communication and collaboration in a team environment
  • Undergraduate or higher degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Comfortable working in a startup-like environment where it is necessary to work across disciplines
