The Experience Strategy, Services, and Operations (ESSO) organization is leading the effort to create the desired customer experience through support offer creation, driving digital transformation across our tools, and delivering operational excellence across CE&S.

The Director, Data Strategy & Analytics (DSA) is responsible for delivering holistic taxonomy governance and data management program, driving governed taxonomy standards in data platforms, reporting and tools to improve Customer Experience and Operational Efficiency. The team manages programs and applications looking north and south across the IT landscape to manage and define measures and data flows. The team works across data and analytics organizations to drive collaborative alignment. We are looking for a deeply business-oriented and goal-driven leader with technical and management experience to accelerate our journey to insight-driven decision support. Reporting to the Principal SW Engineering Manager, BI Data & Analytics Platform, you will drive supporting financial, operational, and customer analytics for over 20,000 employees worldwide.

Responsibilities

The CCE Data Strategy & Analytics Director will have the following responsibilities: 

  • Define and drive data governance and consistency strategies
  • Define and drive data quality and process measures for continued improvement
  • Drive and scale key performance indicators for data quality to identify and remediate hot spots and measure impact
  • Drive and scale Master Data Management system and process to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance in CE&S BI data assets
  • Direct and with v-teams manage implementations which deliver consistency and insight to the business
  • Be a thought leader in north-south business application implementations
  • Collaborate across analytics organizations within Microsoft
  • Represent Microsoft’s first party analytics solutions to customers
  • Closely partner and serve our support business operations teams with data measures, products and solutions
  • Drive key strategy projects and orchestrate workstreams across CE&S and our engineering and service partners which relate to support measurement and optimization
  • Leverage shared data engineering & information architecture capabilities & resources in CE&S BI to streamline the delivery of analytics & insights

Qualifications

Required / minimum qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in data science, analytics operations at scale, information technology, partner operations, finance, business planning, and/or equivalent experience OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years’ experience in analytics operations, information technology
  • Minimum 3 years in data governance role
  • Demonstrated team management, project management, leadership, and cross-group collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of data management concepts, principles, best practices and associated business processes and tools, specially Data Governance, Master Data Management, Data Modeling, Metadata Management, Data Quality
  • Strong industry experience data models and taxonomy including digesting, analyzing, and problem-solving various use cases across the data privacy/security and governance spectrum
  • Strong Knowledge and experience managing data governance through business and technology layers
  • Working Technical knowledge and experience of Business Intelligence and Governance systems, such as Azure, MS SQL Server, Oracle, SQL Skills
  • Ability to create effective relationships, listen, influence, and collaborate internally and externally at all organizational levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills through all levels of the organization

Additional or preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration/related field and/or Engineering degree or equivalent with a strong academic background 
  • Desire to operate at the intersection of technology and business, spearheading organizational, operational, and technological change
  • Demonstrated hypothesis-driven, problem-solving orientation with ability to leverage both quantitative and qualitative analyses to drive decision making
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to formulate and deliver insights around complex business problems in a thoughtful and persuasive manner 
  • Have a strong background in leading people with the ability to inspire confidence in senior leaders and motivate his/her global team
  • Exceptionally strong personal initiative, good business instincts, and comfort with ambiguity
  • Deep understanding of analytics and business technology markets, trends, and dynamics 
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous high-priority projects (often including project management of cross-functional v-teams)
