The Collaborative Apps & Platforms organization is hiring for a Senior Business Manager – Finance. This is an exciting and critical role focused on driving the headcount, budget, and annual financial planning process for this large, $1B organization. Our organization has a global footprint, large OPEX and COGS budgets, and a large non-people budget. Strong management of all aspects of our financial portfolio enables us to have the greatest impact for our customers and Microsoft. This role works closely with the Chief of Staff community, Finance, Global Talent Acquisition , the E+D executive office, and our leadership team.
A passion for process optimization and improvement, an eye for detail, very strong collaboration skills, solid reporting and power BI skills, and a desire to formulate strategic insights are key to success in this role. People budget management
The Business Manager- Finance is responsible for driving the overall budget within our team, in partnership with Finance, including setting targets, reporting, auditing, and metrics. Workstreams include: Funded headcount and PCN reconciliation, geo conversions, budget transfers and adjustments, reporting for the leadership team and Chief of Staff team.
Non-people budget management
We have a significant non-people budget that requires active oversight, monitoring, and controls- along with detail-oriented planning and preparation on an annual basis. This requires very close collaboration with chiefs of staff, PO owners, administrative staff- including onboarding, documentation, and regular reviews to ensure tight budget management.
Reporting & Insights
This role drives regular and ad hoc reporting, including leveraging Finance reports and tools, Power BI, and creating presentations for the LT. Identifying and deriving insights and opportunities is a key component of the role.
The training and onboarding of new operations staff- including Chiefs of Staff, Business Managers, and Business Admins to our Finance tools and processes is a regular and ongoing responsibility of this role. There is a lot of knowledge management and transfer that must happen with each new member of our operations team.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent professional experience
- 6+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles
- Exceptional organizational experience, managing multiple projects with different deliverables and timelines simultaneously
- Ability to create and maintain positive relationships, influence and collaborate internally and externally
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Experience with Power BI
- Prior Microsoft Finance, budget management, or business management experience
