The National Interstate Internship program gives students the ability to apply their skills and knowledge from their classes to the workplace. National Interstate Insurance is looking for a Subrogation Intern, part of our 2025 Summer Internship Program, to join their team. This individual will work out of the Richfield, Ohio office.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Evaluates legal liability and aggressively pursues, negotiates, and resolves subrogation collection.

• Secures additional information/investigation from referring office when additional investigation is necessary.

• Assist in tracking and providing unpaid arbitration award notifications and processing recovery payments.

• Assist in obtaining data on arbitration matters with damages in dispute.

• May communicate with policyholders, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, and underwriters to obtain/provide the necessary information.

• Successfully completes all coursework/education as assigned:

• Builds understanding of the different roles, such as Underwriting, Product, etc.

• Develops knowledge and terminology of legal concepts relating to negligence.

• Performs other duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements

Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university pursuing a degree in Business, Communications, Criminal Justice or a related field. Anticipated graduation date ranging from Fall/Winter 2025 to Spring 2026.
