Job Summary

The VP Team Leader, Commercial Risk is a strategic leader who manages a portfolio of high-value and complex Commercial Lines Property & Casualty clients while leading and mentoring a group of Account Executives. The role drives retention and revenue growth by strengthening client relationships and identifying new business, cross-sell, and upsell opportunities.

This role supports our Northeast territory. We offer a hybrid opportunity from our NYC, Long Island or Boston offices. Working in the office is essential for fostering collaboration and leadership. We will consider remote options for experienced candidates, ideally in the NE for the ability and feasibility to occasionally travel to client meetings or our designated offices if required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic leader within the office, helping shape client strategy, growth priorities, collaboration, and service excellence.
  • Lead and mentor a group of Account Executives while managing an assigned book of complex, high-value clients.
  • Develop Account Executives to become more strategic, growth-oriented, and proactive in managing client relationships.
  • Drive revenue growth across the book by establishing relationships with producers, existing and prospective clients and identifying new business, cross-sell, and upsell opportunities.
  • Lead account strategy, renewals, marketing, and complex client discussions in partnership with producers and account teams.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point and trusted advisor for complex, sensitive, or high-risk client matters.
  • Drive client retention and expansion through proactive relationship management, strong execution, and consistent service delivery.
  • Find opportunities to improve account workflows, client results, and the overall client experience.

PeopleFirst Leadership

The VP models NFP’s PeopleFirst values by fostering an inclusive, respectful, and accountable environment. The role provides clear direction, coaching, and development support while encouraging collaboration, open communication, and professional growth.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 10+ years of Commercial Lines experience desired, including experience with complex or high-value accounts.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor Account Executives while managing a complex book of business.
  • Strong knowledge of Property & Casualty coverage, risk management, carrier markets, and account strategy.
  • Proven ability to strengthen client relationships and identify revenue-growth opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities with sound judgment, attention to detail, and urgency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel; EPIC experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration

  • Property & Casualty Insurance License required.
  • Professional insurance designation such as CIC, CISR, CPCU, CRM, or AAI preferred.

What We Offer:

We're proud to offer a competitive salary, PTO & paid holidays, 401(k) with match, exclusive discount programs, health & wellness programs, and more. Our PeopleFirst culture focuses on building and nurturing lifelong relationships with our employees because, at the end of the day, we exist to be there for others. The base salary range for this position is $165,000 to $200,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
