Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Proactively nurtures relationships with clients, carriers and vendors by taking a significant role in meetings and calls, leading projects and ongoing active engagement.
- Participates in the renewal and marketing process in collaboration with the consulting team, leading certain activities.
- Ensures accuracy of client deliverables by reviewing benefit materials including carrier documents and regulatory content for appropriateness and applicability.
- Mentors and trains junior team members, sharing expertise and knowledge.
- Effectively communicates internally and externally with clients and the vendor community.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of insurance products and processes and stays informed about market trends to make appropriate and relevant recommendations to clients.
- Serves as a subject matter expert on benefits, vendor/carrier products, and services, seeking guidance from senior team members on complex situations.
- Anticipates client needs and collaborates with NFP team members to address them.
- Analyzes renewals, participates in carrier negotiation, and provides renewal support.
- Collaborates with team members to draft client presentations and actively participates in client meetings.
- Ensures up-to-date benefit guides and client communications following open enrollment or coverage changes.
- Prepares documentation and data for annual client compliance audits, potentially presenting alongside Account Executives.
- Handles client requests, including addressing product or vendor service challenges.
- Manages timely completion of the 5500 form.
- Provides updates to clients on industry trends, events, and regulatory issues.
- Demonstrates understanding of alternative funding strategies.
- Supports proactive client service alongside the account management team.
- Oversees client projects such as new client onboarding, open enrollment processes, and non-discrimination testing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of benefits/insurance products and services, administration, benefits compliance, and overall industry trends.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently, anticipate client and team needs, and make effective decisions.
- Strong time management and diligent follow-up skills.
- Clear and concise communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Commanding presentation and public speaking abilities
Education and/or Experience:
- BA/BS preferred
- Typically more than five years industry with some of that time as a consultant/broker
- Certificates, Licenses, Registration:
- Life, Accident and Health Insurance License required.
