Okta is hiring an Executive Communications Manager to join our global Go To Market (GTM) Communications Team to help develop and deliver strategic communications that will elevate Okta as the identity standard in the market.
This is a high-profile role that will partner directly with our Head of GTM Communications to deliver impactful internal and external communications for Okta’s GTM executives: the Chief Customer Officer (CCO) who leads the Customer First and Marketing organizations, and Okta’s Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) who leads the Global Field organization. It is global in scope and ideal for a communicator who thrives in a high-growth, fast-moving, and highly collaborative environment.
We are searching for an enthusiastic storyteller with a strong background crafting communications strategies to inform and motivate audiences; skillful at managing and partnering with executives on their communications; and willing to roll up their sleeves to get work done.
This role will be a part of a forward-thinking GTM Communications Team committed to delivering exceptional and creative communications to drive awareness of Okta’s strategic value, boost productivity, and keep employees aligned and connected to our company vision and values.
This person will report directly to Okta’s head of GTM communications as part of Okta’s Global Communications team and will be based in the U.S.
Responsibilities:
- In partnership with the Head of GTM Communications, develop and advise on external and internal executive communication strategies for both the CCO and CRO in support of key business priorities; Actively manage and implement tactics in partnership with key stakeholders.
- Support the CCO and CRO with strategic input on messaging, tone, and positioning that resonates with key audiences.
- Work cross-functionally internally and externally to outline and develop impactful speeches, keynote presentations, talking points, and other written materials.
- Create and manage essential GTM employee communications programs, such as organization all hands, town hall meetings, and organizational change communications.
- Evolve existing and create new communication channels/tactics to ensure an optimal mix of top-down, sideways, and bottoms-up communication is taking place.
- Support and drive change management communications, including but not limited to reorganizations, crisis communications, and product announcements.
- Actively partner with the Global Communications Team, GTM stakeholders, and across Okta’s People, Workplace, Business Technology, Legal, and Investor Relations to ensure alignment of internal messaging, timing, and editorial strategies.
- Balance planned communications with unplanned and urgent business needs.
- Continually measure and evaluate communications impact and effectiveness and adjust accordingly to mirror Okta’s growth.
Requirements:
- Eight years of executive and employee communications experience, with at least four years of working with C-level executives (added bonus if you’ve worked with GTM execs!).
- Exceptional executive presence and maturity, including experience coaching leaders and handling confidential content.
- Flawless writing and editing skills.
- Strong business and technical acumen; Understanding of Okta’s business and the competitive landscape.
- A detail-oriented, analytical approach, with the ability to thrive working in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
- The ability to ramp quickly, work autonomously, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Skilled at building consensus, being persuasive, and collaborating with and managing others in a matrixed organization.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% and work flexible hours to support our GTM leaders and key audiences around the globe.
- Bachelor’s degree in related fields or equivalent.
Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
