The Okta Security team’s mission is to strengthen Okta’s position as the leading Identity-as-a-Service solutions through identifying and resolving risks to the employees, product, and most importantly, our customers. The Senior Director, Enterprise Security Architect is an integral member of the Okta Security team who guides and defines the overarching technical security strategies and partners across multiple functions as a trusted leader to support and ensure the secure development of architecture solutions and technology strategy.
The Enterprise Security Architect actively collaborates with Okta’s technology leaders to develop and articulate the Enterprise Security Framework and drive the security strategies across Okta.
The Enterprise Security Architect will conduct, or assist with conducting, designing, planning, implementing and operationalization of all infrastructure, applications, and systems, including selection and deployment of cybersecurity technologies. This position requires an astute collaborator, who thrives working with multiple stakeholders and can align cross-functional teams in security decisions making and solutions.
This position may be located anywhere in the USA.
Responsibilities:
- Consult with and partner with a range of technology and business stakeholders to lead security architecture decisions and build target-state/end-state architecture
- Galvanize delivery of Okta’s security strategy, ensuring strategic objectives are aligned with business outcomes and regularly reviewed for effectiveness
- Contribute to threat model development to assess potential attack vectors throughout the product lifecycle and mitigating through architecting appropriate security mechanisms.
- Design and deploy security solutions that make Okta more secure today as well as solving future security challenges as Okta grows.
- Plan and build current state and target state secure architectures for Okta products and features, infrastructure and corporate technology environments.
- Research new services, controls, or features that can help secure the product such as identity, policy controls, sandboxing, supply chain security, and zero trust.
- Work directly with engineers and architects to illustrate risks, threats, exploits to make informed security decisions.
- Lead the implementation of complex security projects and initiatives that have company wide scope.
- Communicate the company wide security architecture and direction to both management, security and engineering related teams.
- Engage with ecosystem partners to bring advanced new ways of securing our product and infrastructure based on industry‘s best and standard practices.
- Stay current on market developments to identify emerging security technologies, risks and trends to ensure we keep pace with the security technology and risk landscape
- Create executive level reporting on the state of security across Okta products and services
- Define SLOs to establish metrics and determine areas for improvement
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 10+ years security architecture and/or engineering roles
- Demonstrated proficiency with security and/or identity products

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
