Through your experience, knowledge of industry trends, technical abilities, and knowledge you will produce guidance, proof of concepts, and production implementations that help CIC Engineering teams move faster by using and developing standard patterns and technologies. You will also help advance the engineering culture and help uplevel other engineers.
What you will do:
- As part of a team of seasoned Architects, you will collaborate with Product, Security, and Engineering teams to define and continually improve CIC’s technology stack and architecture.
- Develop and drive the implementation of a platform architecture that supports Engineering’s goals and deliverables, through strategy, design, requirements, and code.
- Investigate, understand, and resolve bottlenecks in our ability to scale, use resources efficiently, and maintain a 99.99% uptime SLA.
- Embed closely with Engineering teams across the organization for large projects while providing guidance and lighter touch engagements for smaller initiatives.
- Design, architect, and document large scale distributed systems.
- Implement features across different teams using technologies such as AWS, Azure, Node.js, Go, MongoDB, Redis, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes.
- Drive technical decision making while striving to hit the right balance between factors such as simplicity, flexibility, reliability, cost, and performance.
- Contribute to improving Okta’s product architecture patterns, security controls and best practices.
- Participate in “round table” discussions and mentor team members and engineers throughout the organization to level up our people.
- Participate in our Engineering Leadership Team with other architects, directors, and executives.
- Undergo training as an Incident Commander and join on-call rotation for major incidents.
What you bring:
- Passion and thorough understanding of what it takes to build and operate secure, reliable systems at scale.
- Very strong written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to adjust your communication style to the intended audience, whether communicating with senior executives, customers, engineers, or product managers.
- Strong analytical skills to investigate performance, find bottlenecks, and suggest tractable optimizations. Prior experience with application performance management, tracing, and performance testing tools are a plus.
