The Quality Assurance Officer engages and participates in the inspections of vehicles and assemblies during final preparation and testing to the point of acceptance, confirming and reporting on the build quality and compliance of vehicles and related compliance records to provide adequate and sufficient compliance evidence and records to ensure acceptance by the customer.
The Quality Assurance Officer is responsible for supporting all aspects of the quality processes and activities to support vehicle and module integration, and final delivery and provision of support services of the vehicles and modules to the Commonwealth of Australia.
As Quality Assurance Officer, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:
- Perform routine visual, dimensional and functional inspections and objective tests for incoming parts, in-process production and finished goods;
- Participating in supplier part quality inspections and audits (on site) to assure acceptable part build quality;
- Collaboratively conduct vehicle inspection and review activities to assure compliance with defined vehicle build and finish quality standards and requirements;
- Ensure that all products have been tested per requirements and fall within standards while meeting customer requirements, measured to specifications and within tolerances;
- Document and report inspection findings and results and monitor corrective actions to inspection findings;
- Assist in identifying Non-Conforming product and documenting all identified Non-Conformances thoroughly with sufficient detail to allow independent parties to action dispositions and follow quarantine processes;
- Raise Corrective Action Requests (CAR) and ensure preventive actions are completed within the specified periods;
- Maintain quality-related data (e.g. testing, reviews) for analysis and reporting in accordance with the Quality framework;
- Maintain and update quality assurance instructions, guides, and other relevant documented materials within RDA’s Quality Management System as they relate to quality inspection activities;
- Assist with technical support and review of tenders, product quality and/or improvement requests. This includes assisting in responding to customer complaints and identifying containment actions, undertaking a full fault analysis and implementing short-term and long-term countermeasures; and
- Attend operational meetings to provide advice and support related to quality assurance related issues.
About your new team
The Quality Assurance Officer reports to the Quality Manager – Operations and forms part of a team of 8 QA Officer’s. The greater Quality team is continuing to grow and also includes, Planning, Audit, IMS and Supplier Quality teams. This role will be based in Redbank at our Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE).

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
- Degree qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in a Quality Control / Quality Assurance role delivering complex platforms or systems;
- Experience working in a highly regulated industry such as defence, automotive or aviation;
- Internal or external audit or inspection experience;
- Strong understanding of Quality Management principles;
- Ability to read and interpret standards, engineering drawings and customer specifications;
- Lean Manufacturing experience including proven ability with Root Cause Analysis Techniques. Experience with dimensional stack problem solving in multi-part welded assemblies.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint);
- Must currently hold or be eligible to gain the appropriate Australian Security Clearance; and
- Ability to travel interstate and/or internationally when required.
