As part of the Trade Compliance Team, the Trade Compliance Specialist or Senior Specialist provides subject matter expertise to our projects in relation to their import and export control responsibilities, to ensure RDA's compliance with our licensing and regulatory obligations. This role encompasses a range of trade compliance responsibilities in a team and organisation that has genuine career growth opportunities. Your background and experience will determine at which level you commence with us. The role reports to the Trade Compliance Manager and may be based in Brisbane, Adelaide or Melbourne.

As the Trade Compliance Specialist or Senior Specialist, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks may include:
- Providing expert advice and guidance on requirements and obligations in dealing with defence articles, technical data and defence services under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), as well as Australian and non-US control regimes;
- Identifying licensing requirements for assigned projects in order to manage associated regulatory risks;
- Ensuring products and technical data are marked and dealt with correctly, and that RDA has the required approvals in place for technical data and goods;
- Providing guidance to the project teams regarding access to controlled technology;
- Acting as Subject Matter Expert for assigned projects including participating in project team meetings as required;
- Assisting with the preparation, delivery and monitoring of export control training;
- Providing support and training for junior staff;
- Providing day-to-day assistance, communications, briefings, awareness, and assistance to employees on import/export controls for existing programs and new business opportunities;
- Liaising with Australian and international government agencies;
- Liaising with trade compliance colleagues in other Rheinmetall entities around the world; and
- Managing the State and Federal explosives and weapons licences for RDA and RMMVA.
About your new team
The RDA Trade Compliance Team manages a range of trade compliance responsibilities for the organisation, both global as well as domestic. We ensure the projects meet all of their regulatory requirements relating to importing and exporting of military equipment and technology, transport and storage of weapons and ammunition, and adherence to export controls for Australia as well as all our trading partners including European, U.S. and others.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
- Ability to work as part of a small dedicated team or independently;
- Knowledge and experience of global trade laws and regulations in the defence environment, including ITAR, EAR, FMS, Australian Customs and Defence Trade Controls legislation, and those of other non-US trading partners;
- Understanding of the industry "best practices" for compliance;
- Analytical ability and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal;
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Law, or related discipline;
- Experience in preparing and submitting Australian import and export licence applications;
- Experience with State and Federal explosives and munitions import, storage and transport legislation, and
- Understanding of Supply Chain, Logistics and Customs Procedures;
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance, as a minimum at AGSVA Negative Vetting Level 1; and
- You will also need to travel interstate, and internationally if required.
