The Role:
The Project Manager position is a role which has responsibility and accountability for the Safety Health and Wellbeing, compliance, programme delivery, commercial & cost control, and quality management of projects for the Distributed Energy Business.
The PM will lead on the management of the construction aspects of the energy projects. Ensuring that each project is reviewed in a robust manner for the integrity of the project team structure, construction framework partner requirements, optimum construction costs and associated programme.
The PM will co-ordinate the stakeholder activities of the incumbent Distribution Network Operator and liaise with Local Authorities for off-site connections, where applicable.
Key Responsibilities:
- The PM will ensure that the asset “constructability” and ongoing operational requirements have been considered and mitigated as part of the project design and development. The PM will be responsible to ensure that a clear handover process is in place with both Engineering & Operational Teams.
- The PM will be responsible and accountable for project reporting and will be the client point of escalation for all matters related to the projects whilst in the construction phase of the asset lifecycle.
- The PM shall hold ultimate responsibility for achieving the defined success outcome of each construction project under their control.
- Comfortable operating at all levels within SSE Group, the PM shall play a key role in making recommendations to management for continuous improvement objectives / initiatives.
- The PM will support the Construction Manager on the wider business activities to ensure that SHEW Management Plan, SHEW Management System Compliance, Innovation Engine, Project Management Office, Competency Management, Quality Control & Compliance are all engaged and supported by the Construction Team.
- The PM will be responsible for the presentation of their projects at the Project Review Board (PRB). They will be responsible for the activity and actions that result from the PRB Reviews for the Projects under their remit & responsibility.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- An understanding and appreciation of Distributed Energy technologies.
- An appreciation of DNO Competition in Connections policies and procedures.
- A strong understanding of SHEW construction requirements/legislation such as CDM.
- Demonstrable experience of working under commercial contract frameworks such as NEC3/4 DOM2 etc.
- Financially astute in terms, Budget, Cost Control, Purchase Order Management.
- Strong Knowledge of, and commitment to the Company’s overall aims and objectives
- Knowledge of all relevant SSE processes and procedures
- Industry recognised Project Management qualifications. PRINCE 2/ APMP Professional.
- Demonstrable successful track record of Project Managing large, complex energy projects.
- Health and safety – SMSTS / IOSH accreditation
