The Opportunity
In this key leadership role you will support the GM of Strategy and Transformation and work closely with the MD of Supermarkets and leadership team to set and refine the strategic priorities for the Supermarkets business, including defining the role that it will play within the Woolworths Food Group ecosystem.
The Head of Strategy Supermarkets will lead teams that are engaged across a portfolio of projects aligned to the strategic priorities of the Woolworths Supermarkets business. The role partners closely with other businesses and teams across Food Group including Woolies X and Customer Transformation. You will take the lead on Supermarkets strategic priorities relating to Woolies X and Store Operations. Ultimately this role will be responsible for delivering some of Woolworths biggest transformation programs.
More specifically the role will:
- Support the MD Supermarkets and Supermarkets leadership team to help define their strategic plan, and provide thought leadership
- Develop and deliver on a portfolio of Supers top strategic programs of work, from diagnostic and scoping through to execution and delivery
- Role model partnering across Woolworths Food Group, ensuring initiatives are scoped and orchestrated end to end
- Support the GM of Supermarkets Strategy and Transformation with the leadership and direction of the supermarkets strategy team. Including leading & developing a team of high performing strategy members and working closely with GM Group Strategy to build strategic capabilities across the Group
- Executive level communication and engagement, including preparation of strategy updates to the Executive Committee and the Woolworths Board
Who we’re looking for
Key to the success of someone in this role is the ability to to influence and build relationships with the senior management team and executives. You will be comfortable working in a fast paced environment and leading teams in pressured situations, drawing on your structured and rigorous approach. You will have deep experience and knowledge of strategic problem solving frameworks and can demonstrate your success delivering on large-scale projects and change management. You are a dynamic and results oriented individual with a positive attitude and strong customer first mindset.
- Solid strategy background from a retail environment and ideally experience from a Tier 1 strategy consultancy firm
- Proven leadership capabilities and experience and to manage and coach junior team members and strategy managers
- Exceptional communication skills with the right balance between consultative and assertive styles
- A pragmatic approach and the ability to deal with change and foster it
