We are looking for a Principal Engineer, based in Redmond WA, who will be responsible for building a platform and lighting up these end to end products and corresponding ecosystem with our customers in Azure Specialized. You will be responsible for hands on engineering, team's engineering execution, system architecture, live-site operations, and product quality.
Responsibilities
- Hands on engineering of distributed systems built on open source based tech stack like Linux, Kubernetes, Docker, containers, go-lang, python.
- Design and architect highly available and reliable control and data plane that supports mission critical enterprise workloads.
- Technically lead and mentor a world class engineering team.
- Working hands-on with your team and our customers through design and implementation, ensuring great architectural decisions and engineering practices, setting standards along the way.
- Advocate for quality and improving engineering fundamentals.
- Be responsible for engineering execution. Work with your peers to plan and prioritize what is important for your team and our organization.
- Working with other managers across our team to continuously improve our engineering process and our technical capabilities.
- Developing deep relationships and exhibiting technical leadership across teams within Microsoft and with open-source communities.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- A technology leader who has developed distributed systems through multiple releases.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- 8+ years of software development experience.
- Prior experience working on cloud technologies based on Linux, containers, Kubernetes, go-lang, Python, etc. and being accountable for running production systems.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
