The HSP organization within Azure manages hardware strategy, roadmap planning, strategic engagements, and program management from concept through production for all of Microsoft’s current and future on-line services. Well-defined and executed strategic planning ensures products meet the requirements for performance, features, and time-to-market. The ability to draw insights from a deep understanding of the cloud HW Infrastructure landscape and industry trends is critical in informing the roadmap, strategy, and planning decisions.
We are looking for a Director of Silicon Strategy with broad semiconductor and/or hardware experience to lead strategic initiatives, write position papers, engage with partners, and analyze long-term macro trends.Success in this role requires balancing between PM depth, technical breath, and business acumen. As a key leader in our Strategic Engagements and Business Development team, you will help drive clarity for ambiguous and complex scenarios through deep research and insights, strong cross-company collaboration, and exceptional PM skills. A strong growth mindset is needed to learn and adapt in the dynamic business of hyperscale computing, semiconductors, and hardware. We work closely with many third-party technology providers and span across many Microsoft teams to enable the world’s computer with the most advanced hardware systems and infrastructure possible. - Lead strategic initiatives, business analyses, and position papers covering silicon and hyperscale hardware.
- Collaborate with 1st and 3rd party technology providers to identify and assess existing and emerging technologies and technology development opportunities.
- Recommend internal and external process improvements and facilitate cross-functional discussions and decision-making, to ensure we have optimized processes and alignment across all partner teams and external stakeholders.
- Initiate and lead ecosystem motions in support of our strategic objectives.
- Work closely with hardware and software development leads, architects, PMs, business development, legal and other relevant Microsoft teams to support our strategic initiatives.
- Ability to effectively communicate with and influence executives and technology leaders inside and outside of Microsoft.
- Provide program leadership with respect and integrity.
Qualifications
Basic qualifications
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields or equivalent years of experience.
- 7+ years of program management experience in hardware products and/or technologies relevant to AI systems and/or datacenter/cloud infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications include depth and expertise in one or more of the below areas:
- Advanced degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, MBA, JD, and/or related fields.
- Experience driving exec-level communication and stakeholder management.
- Strong intellectual curiosity and a passion about learning and deploying new technologies.
- Proven capabilities to drive positive business results by working across multiple organizations.
- Experience working in hardware infrastructure engineering teams.
- Ability to build relationships and influence in a matrix organization.
- Highly effective written and oral communication skills with proven ability to present to a wide range of cross-functional partners across different teams and levels of the organization.
- Self-motivated, driven individual who can work in an ambiguous and rapidly changing business environment with competing priorities.
- Highly experienced in program management fundamentals, including presentation skills and written communication, and management of cross team deliverables spanning costs, schedules, risks, and issue mitigation.
