The Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis team (CFP&A) in the Central Finance Team is responsible for Microsoft’s overall planning and analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting of total company financial performance to drive strategic decisions. Our stakeholders include the Board of Directors, shareholders/Wall Street, Senior Leadership (CEO, CFO, and Executive VPs), Finance Leadership (Division/Engineering Group CFOs and Corporate Controller) and finance teams across the company.
The Core CFP&A is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Finance Director, with excellent organizational and leadership skills and who has an interest and experience in managing people and processes. The successful candidate will be leading a team of finance professionals to run our core financial rhythms such as forecast, budgeting, budget restatements and target setting at the companywide level and also be responsible for any project related work that might accrue to the broader objectives of the organization. The team works closely with peer teams in Sales orgs, Engineering groups and Corporate functions in setting the annual budget, managing the target setting process and driving the quarterly forecast rhythm.
Successful candidates for this role will have an understanding of Microsoft’s finance processes, organizational structure, hierarchies and systems or equivalent experience in a complex multinational corporate environment. This role requires the ability to navigate organizational preferences, historical practices in coming up with solutions that work across the multiple scenarios. It also places a premium on working collaboratively and developing successful relationships with multiple stakeholders across a spectrum of financial teams. This high visible role will allow you to have a significant impact on the financial decision making of the company by managing, standardizing as needed and streamlining as appropriate key financial management reporting and processes company-wide.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities & deliverables for the team include:
- Build, grow and maintain effective inclusive teams and ultimately drive the Microsoft strategy; role model our Microsoft values, to deliver exceptional results.
- Lead 2x quarter financial forecasting cycle for the company
- Lead Planning processes for Target Setting, Budget deliverables for next fiscal year planning
- Partner with Core Services Engineering and Finance Business Intelligence teams to effectively plan and implement tool changes and availability for our corporate financial processes including forecasts, targets, and budgets.
- Collaborate and establish deep partnerships with Engineering Groups, Corp Groups, and Sales Finance teams to implement process improvements to our corporate financial processes
- Partner with other internal groups in supporting major acquisitions for the acquired company’s FP&A deliverables.
- Drive any special projects as deemed appropriate for the organization
- Drive transparent, consistent engagement and communications with all stakeholders.
- Lead, through influence, the change management required to standardize companywide processes across the organization.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 12+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
- OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 10+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
- OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong and proven track record as a people manager and thought leader that can manage a diverse team.
- 12+ years of relevant work experience in financial analysis, reporting, controllership with a good analytical foundation
- Deep knowledge of FP&A processes, either at Microsoft or similar scaled multinational organization
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across teams
- A strong simplifier
- A thought leader that can motivate others to do their best, in alignment with our Leadership principles
- Undergraduate degree in Finance / Business, Accounting or Economics or related discipline; CPA or MBA or the equivalent to an MBA in work experience preferred
