The Market Intelligence Team within Microsoft Advertising is responsible for generating competitive, and market insights to shape a world class advertising platform for Microsoft and our partners. We work with all groups to drive monetization improvements including engineering, customer-service operations, sales, marketing, and product management to enable rigorous, effective, and data-driven decision making.

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Business Strategy Analyst who will assess external market and economic conditions and will recommend strategic priorities and investments that will enhance Microsoft’s competitive value proposition. This position will contribute immediately to high-profile projects with executive visibility. Work is inclusive of, but not limited to,evaluation of emerging business opportunities, holistic strategic planning, competitive analysis, and operational improvements.

- Construct and work with strategic frameworks to develop and analyze recommendations on partnerships, products, projects, and new growth opportunities
- Build strong, detailed business cases for key opportunities that will drive both immediate and long-term business results
- Build pricing models for potential new products
- Partner with internal and external market research groups to build and continuously update a comprehensive set of potential ideas and project opportunities
- Share relevant concepts and approaches with business partners to raise the overall level of strategic thinking throughout the organization
Develop strong working relationships within the strategy team and throughout the broader matrixed organization most frequently with senior executives, product management, finance, and marketing team members
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 4+ years, marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience OR Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field AND 3+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience OR equivalent experience (e.g., scaling a business, incubation, driving change in a large company, entrepreneurship, management consulting).
- 4+ years of experience in one or more of the following: strategy/management consulting, business planning, Media/Advertising, market research, product management, or financial modeling.
Additional Qualifications:
- Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Superior communications skills, both verbal and written and ability to engage with business partners and executives to drive key decisions. Ability to synthesize and clearly communicate complex findings to focus on the critical issues and actionable opportunities
- Detail oriented, thorough, and very strong drive for results
- Strong finance, strategy, consulting, or business development background with demonstrated performance in creation/execution of financial and business models and ability to quickly understand complex data sets
- Understanding and interest in e-commerce and online advertising preferred
- MBA preferred
