Yarra Trams requires the services of a suitably qualified and experienced mechanical fitter to perform tram maintenance tasks, ensuring the optimum availability of trams to service the Melbourne public.
What the role entails
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to ensure trams are maintained and serviced within agreed standards and requirements.
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the role involves:
- Perform tram maintenance and servicing tasks that fall within the skills of a trades person in a fitting trade
- Carry out fault repairs, fault finding, and component exchange
- Inspection activities across all trade groups in depot tram servicing
- Assist other trades with the performance of component exchange
- Perform maintenance tasks of a reactive and preventative nature as allocated by the supervisor
- Identify non base trade related faults during inspection activities and depot servicing and advise supervisor so that appropriate resources can be allocated
What you will need for this role
To be successful in this role, you will have;
- Completed an apprenticeship as a Mechanical fitter or other acceptable trade
- Experience in providing technical advice (Knowledge sharing) to other tradesmen
- Experience overseeing the work of junior staff (including apprentices)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal and an ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- An awareness and understanding of the OH&S and environmental risks that pertain to this role;
- Ability to work shift work, including weekends and public holidays if required
- A current Victorian Drivers Licence and be capable of driving a tram
