The Role
As a Market Facing SME Underwriter within our General Insurance business, you will support the Underwriting Manager and local distribution team to grow and maintain a profitable SME portfolio by delivering a market leading level of underwriting to support our brokers.
You will learn to evaluate risk across a broad range of industries and lines of insurance. You will build and manage broker relationships; support and assist marketing initiatives, whilst maintaining a profitable portfolio.
Your Experience
To be successful in this role you will have a learning mindset, an ability to assess and interpret information, the capability to manage stakeholder relationships and a customer centric focus. You will have experience in an underwriting role and have a strong understanding of Broker networks. Tertiary qualifications as well as ANZIIF or Insurance Certificates will be held in high regard.
You will need strong communication skills to provide effective delivery of risk management decisions and strategies. You will need to be able to multitask with the aid of market-leading technology platforms in a fast-paced environment. You will be provided with a comprehensive induction training programme and ongoing support from an experienced team.
Qualifications / Experience
Required:
- Minimum 7 years experience within an SME, Commercial Motor environment with ANZIIF or Insurance Certifications desirable
- Experience in managing relationships with intermediaries and driving a profitable new business pipeline
- Highly developed insurance knowledge of underwriting Packages business, relevant Legislation and Regulations governing General Insurance
- Strong understanding of Broker networks (Steadfast, AIMS, etc) and systems (Winbeat, EGlobal, etc)
- Operational and Financial Management
- Computer literate – Word & Excel to intermediate level of proficiency
- Demonstrated competency in communication and influencing skills
- Time management
- Change Management
