How Australia Post built inclusive leadership at scale

When Australia Post wanted to move inclusion beyond good intentions, WORK180 designed and delivered a tailored inclusive leadership series across its corporate and operational sites. The series equipped 120 leaders with the tools to practise inclusion every day, and helping lift the representation of women in the teams involved by 6%.

Louise Rogers, one of our Global DEI Advisors, shares what made the Australia Post
inclusive leadership series work, and what it takes to move beyond ticking a box.

The challenge

Getting inclusion right at scale — across two very different worlds

In an industry full of good intentions, it can feel like training doesn’t always move the needle. Australia Post wanted the opposite: practical, everyday inclusion in the hands of the people who shape culture the most — their managers.

Australia Post operates across both corporate and operational environments, which made this an exciting challenge and a real opportunity to get inclusion right at scale. A one-size-fits-all workshop was never going to land with leaders whose day-to-day roles look so different.

✓ Equip people leaders with practical tools to practise inclusion every day
✓ Align everything to Australia Post’s own values and behaviours
✓ Reach leaders across both corporate and operational roles
✓ Build real capability, not a box-ticking exercise

Our approach

We built capability, not a checkbox

Building inclusive leadership isn’t a one-touch decision. We designed the series as a journey that met leaders where they were, built momentum across the business, and turned learning into everyday behaviour.
Stage 1: Design

Tailored to Australia Post

Every session was built around Australia Post’s values and behaviours, and shaped for the unique needs of leaders in both corporate and operational roles.
Stage 2: Deliver

A hybrid roadshow

Delivered online and in person across three sites in a roadshow-style series, so we could reach 120 leaders and build engagement right across the business.
Stage 3: Embed

Everyday inclusion

Live, interactive sessions gave leaders the chance to share real-world examples with colleagues — turning theory into how they show up every single day.
What we did together

One connected series, built for reach and accessibility

Each part of the series played a specific role — from reaching leaders across the country to changing how they lead their teams. WORK180 designed and delivered every element, so Australia Post’s team could stay focused on their people.

Reach

A roadshow across three sites

We took the series on the road, delivering in person and online across three Australia Post sites so leaders everywhere could take part — not just those at head office.

Delivered end to end by WORK180

From design and facilitation through to reporting, WORK180 ran every part of the series — building momentum and engagement across the business without adding to Australia Post’s workload.

The impact

Change that was both felt and measured

Capability growth

Leaders more confident to lead inclusively

Leaders reported significant growth in their confidence to support diverse teams and champion inclusive behaviours — a genuine step forward for inclusive culture at Australia Post.

+6%

More women in the teams involved

We saw a 6% increase in the representation of women from recruitment activities within the specific teams involved in the training — a significant shift in just a few months from delivery.

“There’s a difference between ticking a box and building capability that changes how your leaders show up — in everything from a team meeting to an interview, every single day.”

Louise Rogers, Global DEI Advisor, WORK180

Why this worked

Inclusion that leaders could actually use

It reached the people who shape culture

We focused on the managers with the greatest day-to-day influence on workplace culture and practices — the people best placed to make change stick.

It was built for Australia Post’s world

Tailoring the series to both corporate and operational roles meant inclusion felt relevant and practical for every leader in the room.

It was practical, not theoretical

Live, interactive sessions and shared real-world examples turned “inclusion matters” into concrete things leaders could do the very next day.

The results showed up in the data

Growth in leader capability and a measurable lift in women’s representation proved this was capability building, not box-ticking.
