About the role
We are looking for a highly experienced Technical Lead Network Security to join our Managed Security Engineering team.
This is a senior, hands on engineering role for someone who is comfortable being the technical escalation point across complex enterprise customer environments. You will work heavily across Fortinet and Palo Alto, with responsibility spanning troubleshooting, incident leadership, design, optimisation, change delivery and ongoing service improvement.
The role goes beyond keeping firewalls operational. You will be expected to understand the wider network underneath the security stack, build credibility with customers, identify where environments can be improved and help turn reactive managed services into more proactive engineering outcomes.
You will also provide technical guidance to other engineers, support major incidents and act as a trusted technical advisor to customers.
What you will be doing
Act as a senior technical escalation point across complex network security environments
Provide advanced support and troubleshooting across Fortinet and Palo Alto platforms
Investigate and resolve complex issues involving:
- firewall policy
- NAT
- VPN and IPsec
- routing
- HA and failover
- SD-WAN
- connectivity and traffic flow
- Lead or support major P1/P2 incidents, including technical coordination, restoration, root cause analysis and post-incident improvement
- Manage and troubleshoot centrally managed environments using tools such as FortiManager and Panorama
- Review existing customer environments, identify technical risks, gaps and areas for improvement
- Develop practical recommendations and improvement plans for customers
- Contribute to network security architecture, design and implementation activities
- Perform advanced configuration, upgrades, patching and optimisation across production environments
- Support customer change processes and ensure changes are well planned, tested and documented
- Troubleshoot across the wider network stack, including routing, switching and application connectivity
- Work with technologies such as BGP, OSPF, VPNs, load balancing and enterprise networking
- Contribute to automation and operational improvement using tools such as Ansible, Terraform or scripting where appropriate
- Mentor and support engineers, helping build troubleshooting capability and technical confidence across the team
- Build strong customer relationships and act as a trusted technical advisor
- Help move services from reactive support towards proactive improvement and engineering

- Experience communicating technical recommendations clearly to customers and stakeholders
- Confidence mentoring and supporting other engineers
