Organizational Context:
Accenture's Government Affairs team works across Accenture’s businesses to support and amplify the business’s strategic priorities. This can include highlighting Accenture’s thought leadership and expertise in government fora, monitoring policy developments on areas of interest, educating policymakers on areas where Accenture has a unique perspective, and positioning Accenture as a trusted and committed partner in the community. The Government Affairs team also works to identify and manage any political, reputational, or related risks to the business that may emerge in a given market.
Job Summary:
The Government Affairs Lead for ANZ will report to the Chief Corporate and Government Affairs Officer, who oversees government affairs globally. They will work closely with the business leadership for the ANZ Market Unit, as well as the ANZ Market Unit Legal Director and the General Counsel for Growth Markets. The Lead, working with ANZ Leadership, will develop and successfully deliver a comprehensive Government Affairs strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Identifying, shaping and delivering opportunities to build Accenture’s relationships and positive standing with relevant policymakers and opinion-formers, including by contributing valuable perspectives on issues of importance, leveraging Accenture’s cross-industry and global expertise
Maintaining a strong network of relationships with Government Affairs counterparts at Accenture’s clients and partners
Working as part of a cross-functional team to identify and manage political, reputational or related risk issues as they arise
Lead the development and implementation of Australia’s government affairs strategies that advance business and corporate objectives in Australia
Facilitate and advance leadership engagement in the public arena, driving relationship development with leading state and local policymakers, as well as other senior government officials, trade associations, and think tanks in the region
Build deep relationships with country and local government and elected officials, industry trade associations, stakeholder organizations, think tanks, alliance partners and industry representatives in the region
Lead the development and implementation of political engagement strategy
Work collaboratively with our Public Service business and Marketing/Communications teams to identify and create impactful policy positioning opportunities at the intersection of government and business
Work with Legal and Marketing/Communications teams to monitor, analyze, and report on key issues impacting the company and our offerings, managing reputational and enterprise risk to the company
Leverage appropriate external resources, including trade associations, consultants, stakeholder organizations, and think tanks, for advocacy and other initiatives to advance priorities and objectives
Track, analyze, report and engage as necessary on impactful of key political and public policy developments, analyzing potential impact to our business, our offerings and/or our market overall and advising our business accordingly
Monitor the regional political environment, including key political campaigns, ballot initiatives and bond measures

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Five or more years of relevant experience in ANZ (e.g., government service, law firm, and/or similar role at other MNC).
Preferred Skill Requirements:
Demonstrable interest in – and good working knowledge of – politics, public policy and issues important to Accenture (e.g., technology, AI).
Experience navigating the nexus of politics, policy, and media
Outcome-focused with a proven ability to organise, manage and deliver projects on time and to budget.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to summarize complex information effectively for a senior leadership audience.
Strong network and track record of building trusted relationships.
