The Project:
Somerton Intermodal Terminal is a flagship project for the freight rail industry and will offer a location that services the longer train profiles proposed as part of the Federal Governments Inland Rail commitment. The new intermodal rail hub located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne is an exciting new $400m Design and Construct (D&C) project that will involve, groundworks, track renewals, heavy duty pavements, structures and signalling.
The Position:
The Senior Project Accountant is a critical role based at the Somerton Site, here you will sit in the hub of activity surrounded by the Engineering and Delivery Teams. You will work directly with the Project Director, Area Managers and Engineering Managers as well as the ACCIONA Rail corporate Finance team to ensure the highest standards of financial control and performance on the SIT Project. The role also assists in achieving annual and long-term financial objectives for the broader business.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for month-end close procedures for the Project
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports including detailed financial analysis of monthly results
- Responsible for overseeing all aspects of project accounting and managing the financial aspects of project management
- Accountable for the month-end project forecasting process: revenue, cost and cash flow forecasting
- Maintenance of general ledger, balance sheet management and cost analysis, including identifying areas for cost reduction or optimisation, and implementing effective cost control measures
- Responsible for the audit process including project audit requirements and supporting annual company audit as required
Skills and Experience:
- Degree qualified in Commerce, Accounting or Similar
- CA/CPA or equivalent achieved or underway.
- 4+ years finance experience ideally within a project environment
- Demonstrated experience in cost management, leading a small team and management reporting
- Experience with a large infrastructure project highly desirable
- Current Drivers Licence and your own reliable vehicle.
