Job Description
AECOM’s Wellington Civil Infrastructure team is recruiting a Principal level Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to the success of our Ground Engineering team.
Work with and support colleagues locally, nationally, and globally working across a variety of engineering and environmental disciplines to produce high quality outcomes for our clients and contribute to the continued growth of the team.
Our Ground Engineering team provides one-stop access to services ranging from project management, feasibility studies, initial inspections, detailed design, contract administration and construction supervision for geotechnical works.
We are looking for an ambitious team player to assist in the development of innovative, cost effective and buildable solutions in an environment that is collaborative, stimulating and fast paced.
Your extensive geotechnical consultancy experience, strong capability in geotechnical studies, investigation, and design for road earthworks, slip management and remediation, bridge foundations, retaining structures and strengthened earthworks will add to our teams existing strengths.
The Wellington Region is a dynamic environment, and you provide a leadership role in the in the delivery of significant resilience projects for our local council clients such as the Ngaio Gorge Stabilization works in Wellington, the Eastern Hutt Road stabilisation design in Hutt City, and our growing portfolio of work with Wellington International Airport.
Nationally you would support our team in the provision of ground engineering services for projects such as the Central Interceptor wastewater tunnel, the Supporting Growth Alliance, our growing portfolio with KiwiRail, new medical facilities for our DHB clients, and nationally significant power transmission infrastructure.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- +10 years’ experience in a multidisciplinary environment
- Proven track record in studies, investigations and geotechnical design for new build transportation and infrastructure
- Possess strong problem solving and inter-personal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to write clear and concise technical reports is essential.
- In depth knowledge and experience of relevant design standards.
- Experience in routinely used geotechnical software including Leapfrog, gINT, Slope/W, SLIDE and Plaxis, GIS or Geospatial skills desirable.
- Well versed in a variety of ground conditions and of soil and rock design parameter selection; local knowledge is advantageous.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering (CPEng preferable)
