Job Description
The Opportunity
Our Auckland Transportation team is looking to recruit a Senior Pavement Engineer to join our New Zealand business. In this role, you will support the design and delivery of pavements for various projects ranging in size, complexity, and scope. The role will require experience in the investigation, design, delivery, and construction supervision of pavements for roads, highways, and industrial sites. As a Senior Pavement Engineer, you are expected to support the pavement design discipline on civil projects, operate independently, and coordinate deliverables with various disciplines accordingly. It is also expected that there will be ongoing interaction with AECOM’s clients and construction partners as well as a requirement to enhance AECOM’s reputation through project delivery and client interactions.
About You
- Capable of designing flexible and rigid pavements for roads, highways, and hardstands / industrial sites.
- Knowledge of and experienced in applying the following in designs:
- Austroads Guide to Pavement Technology.
- Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency Design Guides and Specifications.
- Relevant road and material testing NZ Standards.
- Knowledge of Auckland Council Design Guides and Standards will be beneficial but not essential.
- Working knowledge of pavement investigation and surveys.
- Material investigation coordination experience.
- Experienced in using the latest pavement structural design software, specifically CIRCLY.
- Demonstrated skills in report writing, client interfacing and presenting.
- Working knowledge of materials testing, aggregate evaluation, asphaltic and concrete mix designs supporting design specifications.
- Able to inspect roading construction sites for the purpose of quality monitoring, inspections or making observations.
- Able to coordinate designs with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
- Able to clearly communicate technical pavement issues to clients and contractors.
- Support in responding to construction queries and RFIs by applying appropriate risk management and practical experience.
- Up to date with the latest market or industry changes.
- Able to share lessons learned and technical knowledge with the wider pavements team
Qualifications
- Tertiary Qualification in Civil Engineer or similar
- 6+ years of relevant experience
- Chartered or professional member of a relevant professional body or working towards
