Job Description
Our Auckland Transportation team is looking to recruit a Professional Pavement Engineer to join our New Zealand business. In this role, you will support the design and delivery of pavements for various projects ranging in size, complexity, and scope. The role will require experience in site inspections on civil or pavement-type projects, quality and compliance assessment of physical works, and support in the completion of investigation and design in the pavement roading and aviation disciplines.
As a Professional Pavement Engineer, you will support the pavement design discipline on civil projects, operate independently, and coordinate deliverables with various disciplines accordingly. It is also expected that there will be ongoing interaction with AECOM’s clients and construction partners as well as a requirement to enhance AECOM’s reputation through project delivery and client interactions.
Qualifications
The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.
- Experience in designing roading and/or heavy duty pavement using modelling software such as CIRCLY or similar.
- Capable of completing independent construction site inspections to assess the quality of work and compliance with the contract.
- Can assess and seek technical advice from senior engineers on laboratory test results.
- Has some knowledge in and applying the following standards:
- Austraods Guide series
- Waka Kotahi standard specifications for road pavement construction
- Other relevant material/testing NZ standards
- Knowledge of Auckland and other local Council design guides and standards will be beneficial but not essential.
- Basic understanding of typical construction plant and testing equipment used on civil projects.
- Knowledgeable in interpreting and assessing construction drawings.
- Demonstrated skills in preparing or writing emails, memos or reports to senior engineers, contractors, or the client.
- Able to inspect roading construction sites for the purpose of quality monitoring, inspections or making observations.
- Familiar with typical pavement construction materials (new and existing road materials) such as subgrade, granular, concrete, and bituminous products.
- Demonstrated skills in preparing or writing emails, memos or reports to senior engineers or the client.
- Able to effectively collaborate with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
- Able to clearly communicate quality issues to clients and contractors.
- Able to share lessons learned and technical knowledge with the wider pavements team.
