Role purpose
Aesop is seeking a thorough and efficient R&D Technician to join full-time at our global head office in Collingwood. This role will be involved in the development of selected new and exciting product projects from Concept through to Manufacture.
As part of the Research & Development team, you will assist with the testing stages of all new and reformulated Aesop products and ensure that the stage-gate process is followed and documented to company standards and that all formulations are compliant with intended markets and Aesop company guidelines.
Role responsibilities include, but not limited to –
Prepare required samples and set-up in various test conditions, ensuring progress is monitored along the way
Ensure company standards are followed in the testing stage of product development, including product stability, efficacy, safety, preservative and packaging trials
Provide R&D Team and other relevant internal stakeholders with regular updates on project progress, identifying potential delays as early as possible
Assist in maintaining and enhancing existing protocol within the day to day operations and administration of the Aesop Laboratory
Participate proactively in laboratory related functions with exceptional efficiency and attention to detail
Ensure that company confidentiality is maintained throughout the development process, and that Aesop’s intellectual property is always protected
This is a full time position with a requirement to be onsite full time.
What we are looking for

Experience preferably from a cosmetics industry with a similar skillset or from a Quality Control department
Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science, Engineering or related field
Experience with basic physical chemistry testing, such as pH and viscosity
Proven ability to conduct hands-on laboratory work
Strong time management and highly organised with a strong attention to detail
Strong communicator, both written and verbal, with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work autonomously and within a collaborative team environment
Mostly, a desire and curiosity to learn
