About the Role:

As a Fixed Plant Reliability Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the Huntly Mining team, providing technical expertise and support to optimise equipment performance and reliability. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders across all stages of asset lifecycle, from conception to decommissioning.

Reporting to the Senior Reliability Engineer, this position offers a Monday to Friday work schedule at our Huntly Mining operations. Alcoa prioritizes work-life balance and provides flexible working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance and problem-solving solutions to the Huntly Fixed Plant team.

  • Enhance equipment reliability through Alcoa’s Reliability Excellence (REX) processes, data analysis, root cause analysis, and implementation of best practices.

  • Downtime analysis and defect elimination across the Huntly site.

  • Conduct reliability studies to improve reliability, asset health, production, cost-efficiency, and safety.

  • Create and review equipment management strategies and spares strategies to support asset heath across the Huntly fixed plant system.

  • Support capital and maintenance projects for the system, including conveyors, crushers, stackers, reclaimers, hydraulic systems, and pumping systems.

What you can bring to the role:

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field recognised by Engineers Australia, or equivalent industry experience.

  • Strong understanding and experience of reliability engineering principles, tools and techniques in a raw materials handling environment.

  • Experience executing reliability improvement projects.

  • Equipment management strategy development skills via FMECA and defect elimination processes.

  • Experience leading plant management of change and risk management processes.

  • Previous experience in materials handling fixed plant equipment (conveyors, crushers, stackers, reclaimers, hydraulic systems, pumping systems).

  • Strong problem-solving, scope of work writing and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and using reliability software.

  • Software skills such as Reality Charting RCA, Availability Workbench and PowerBI would be advantageous, but not essential.

Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world’s second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa’s Pinjarra alumina refinery. Bauxite ore from Alcoa’s Huntly and Willowdale mines helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
