About the Role:

Our Wagerup Residue Storage Operations has an exciting new opportunity for a Residue Manager to provide leadership and management of operations and maintenance functions.

Reporting to the Wagerup Production Manager, you will be required to meet all customer contracts in the area of safety, environmental, high level risk management, cost control, equipment maintenance & reliability, production, and quality parameters.

Some of the major challenges and activities are;

  • Leading and developing a safety and environmental culture, which aims to achieve zero injuries and ensures the long-term viability of the operation.

  • Understand, analyses and assess risk in regard to the operations of the residue operations.

  • Ensure that all customer requirements for residue storage, environmental controls refinery process & technical requirements and water supply are met at all times.

  • Identify and develop individuals to ensure that all major roles across the sites have ready and capable replacements. A particular emphasis in this area should be on developing future leaders.

  • Investigate and implement productivity and efficiency-based improvements that drive the operation toward cost performance best practice.

  • Ensure and support the management of multi discipline contractors relating to the Alcoa standards.

  • Management and organisation of projects and capital spend for the operation.

  • Ensure alignment and implement global standards and governance compliance.

  • Expectation of assisting with community engagement and communication.

What you can bring to the role:

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Project, civil contractor and cost control management experience

  • Demonstrated Safety Management

  • Extensive experience in Dam, Residue or Impoundments

  • Geotechnical operational knowledge is desirable

  • Understand and apply risk management processes

  • Ability to influence across all levels

  • Demonstrated leadership of diverse teams and contractors

  • Environmental management and compliance

  • Engineering degree is desirable
